I have been testing this with all occult types, and this is what I've found:
- I cannot reproduce the bug with newly created sims EXCEPT vampires.
- Aliens, Mermaids, and Werewolves do not appear to be experiencing new bugs with occult eyes (I have seen some report issues with alien eyes but I could not reproduce the issue). Mermaids cannot have occult eyes on their human form, but to my knowledge this predates the recent update.
- Vampires and Spellcasters both experience this issue. Vampire dark forms are unaffected if the link between forms is OFF.
- Bugged sims placed in the gallery will retain the bug even when placed in a new save.
- All naturally born or generated vampire/spellcaster sims created prior to the update suffer from the bug IF they are child age or older.
- Pre-update toddler and infant spellcasters are unaffected and will retain their occult eye colors even after aging up.
- De-aging bugged sims to toddler or infant in CAS, saving changes and entering live mode, then returning to CAS to age them back up will remove the bug from a spellcaster. You MUST save and close after changing the sim to a toddler before changing them back. Attempting to de-age and re-age the sim in one CAS session will cause the bug to remain.
- Spellcasters created using "Play with Genetics" are unaffected by the bug regardless of whether they were created prior to or after the update.
- Creating a twin of a bugged spellcaster using "Play with Genetics" in CAS will create a twin sim that does not suffer from the bug. The de-aging process is simpler but will delete all outfits and acquired traits/aspirations milestones.
Since the bug mostly affects pre-update sims, I think there is a good chance EA won't fix it. The best option for "fixing" the issue without a patch is to de-age bugged sims to toddlers, save your CAS changes, enter live mode, then go back to CAS to restore their original age. This seems to completely fix the problem for spellcasters, but only solves part of the issue with vampires as their situation is more complex (see my next post on the next page of this thread). I would recommend making a backup of your bugged sim in the library prior to de-aging them so you can have a reference for their outfits if you wish to recreate them.
Edit: Corrected some stuff regarding vampires. I have only been able to reproduce the bug on newly created sims if they are vampires. New spellcasters seem fine and old spellcasters can be de-aged to toddlers to remove the issue. I am still testing different scenarios that trigger the issues with vampires.
Edit 2: Corrected more stuff regarding vampires. See my post on the next page for more info about vampires.
You are dead wrong about #1. I just reproduced the issue on a new playthrough, with newly created sims.
