I've noticed this for a while too and just..avoided the career altogether. Now that I see other people are having the issue, I guess it's something that needs to be addressed and corrected.

Would like to chime in and say that I am having this bug occur to me, with both books and lyrics. Books still take less time than lyrics so I don't mind as much about that but nonetheless, this wasn't a thing when I played the game last year.
