If you're on PC, LittleMissSam has created a workaround for it. Check the pinned thread near the top of the Bug Reports forum titled Common Game Fixing Mods. You can find a link to the fix all the way at the bottom of the page.

@JahKneeSee So I guess I wasn't clear enough: I already went to check her mod online but in the mod description only book writing was mentioned so I thought it doesn't help with song writing. But are you saying it actually does fix it for song writing too?

    I apologize, my brain obviously wasn't working properly when I read and replied to your comment. Somehow I completely missed the words "song" and "music" all over the thread.

    @JahKneeSee hehe no worries ^^ Oh well, yet another thing in the game that I used to enjoy doing but now I guess I'll have to avoid until it gets fixed.
    I enjoyed the realism of being able to work on a song for a week or so. Writing a song all in one go makes as much sense as painting a whole painting in just a few hours. :/
