[ARCHVIED] [FR] Cannot set/change a front door in an R-Rental building

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1. Create an apartment building with 2 doors to get out. 2. The first door leads to the shared staircase, and the second door leads to the backyard, which is not assigned to any household. 3. The creator/landlord cannot set the front door. I want the door to the staircase to be the front door, but it cannot be set when building the house. 4. When playing: A sim wants to visit the apartment with 2 doors, and cannot knock on the door at the shared staircase but only the one that leads to the backyard.
What happens when the bug occurs? The change to set the door at the staircase as a front door does not apply. I tried to switch to playing with the household that lives in the apartment and resetting the front door, which was possible. I saved the game and continued to play with the landlord as I originally wanted to, but the change did not apply.   Yesterday, I changed the front door in my own apartment which has the same layout as the apartment above. The change worked, but today the front door is again the door towards backyard. EDIT: I have tried to change the front door multiple times and it works until I visit somewhere else. When I return home, the change has been removed/cancelled.
What do you expect to see? The front door can be set towards shared space instead of only outside when there are these 2 options. 1. In the build mode, it can be set which is the front door, OR 2. The reset of the front door applies and can be saved.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

It seems that the front door is set automatically to be the door that takes the SIM outside of the building.

This is an old bug that just keeps coming back. It's not just a For Rent problem, it's a "game chooses which door is closest to the front of the lot" problem. Almost every time you go into build mode, do something in manage worlds and come back, the door will reset to the one closest to the ground level / front of the lot. The weirdness of it is that it doesn't always do it. It mostly does it. (Usually when you forget to check to see if it's done it or not. 😛.)
At any rate, the bug can pretty easily be replicated. Simply build a two-story building with a door leading outside on each floor. Mark the second story door as your front door. Now go into build mode and come back out. The door on the ground floor will most likely be reset as your front door. If not, just keep going into build mode a few times, travel with your sim or do one of other myriads of actions listed in this thread. It will eventually reset.

I just started having this problem as well. The front door is the one with a porch facing the front of the lot and it was registered as the front door when I built it but the game keeps resetting it in to the exterior door by the bins. This is a normal residential lot, not a residential rental.

Same problem here. Everytime I rejoin the lot the door resets to be my barn door which is about the same idstance from spawn point as my real door. I am using the mod that lets you set lock options, but seeing as other people are having trouble and not using mods I think it might be a game issue,

I'm having a similar issue with a regular residential house I downloaded from the gallery. I keep switching the front door to the one I want, and it keeps switching back. I'm playing with no mods, in a fresh save to test out the latest update. It might be a problem with the specific build? But I'm not sure why--it's pretty much just base game, also no cc or mods obviously, and doesn't even really use the move objects cheat. I'm just not sure what's wrong.

@jpkarlsen Finally had a chance to play after clearing the cache -- this did not help. Still doing this in my main save as well as a new one.

@Applecorn80 The front door that I've been setting is right near the spot my Sims get home from other lots and from works. The other door is on the side of the house and requires them to walk farther to get to it.

I'll give clearing the cache, but I haven't had the mods folder in my Sims folder in a hot minute, so mods are definitely not the problem.

i had similar issue and still not fixed. this is posty from Forum. wasn't main bug listed bt the only topic i found.

from other lots, where i still get this issue. -- if you have a greenhouse, shed, alternate entry, sci-lab, etc; closer to the location you spawn from work or travelling, eventually that door will be marked as Front. best opt of a possible Work-Around i can offer, other than struggle through it as i have, place your chosen Front Door next to the spawn point, edge and center of lot, and any other doors to the side, rear, or backyard areas.

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.
