Aspiration resets to Friend of the Animals when you go in to look

 

Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time I open the Aspiration Selection

What is your current game version number? 1.112.481.1030.DX11
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Bust the Dust, Urban Homage, Goth Galore and Grunge Revival kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Click on the Star to Select New Aspiration
What happens when the bug occurs? It opens all the way back to "Friend of the Animals" which means I have to do a *lot* more scrolling.
What do you expect to see? It has always opened with the aspiration which I currently have (which allows me to look at what is upcoming in the aspiration, or change the aspiration without doing a lot of annoying scrolling.)
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? None. This is a brand new save with a completely empty mod folder (no mods or custom content of any kind.)
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? It started with the new update I installed today (January 14. 2025).

    I can confirm that I am seeing the same thing, when you go into swap your aspiration (or just to look at it), it takes you to the very first one, which if you have Cats and Dogs, is Friend of the Animals. I have all the packs and kits and have never used mods or cc on this laptop (I just use this laptop to test updates). Note I repaired the game after updating and deleted my localthumbcache file.

    I haven't updated the game on my desktop yet and if you go to swap aspirations there it starts with the aspiration your sim is on (which it has always been like, I aspiration swap all the time so have a lot of familiarity with it). As someone who does aspiration swap this bug is definitely makes doing that take a longer, which isn't ideal.

    @MapleSimmer It's definitely annoying. I can't even go into the aspiration to see what the next series of activities will be without it scrolling all the way back.

    I change my aspirations a lot (as you apparently do too) and unfortunately, the ones I use the most are at the other end! (I do a lot of the nature ones especially.)

    I agree that this is an annoyance because I also frequently open the aspirations panel to look ahead to the next level of the aspiration I have selected and I have to click through to find it now.
