[CD] Can't adopt any stray cat

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I think it's a bug. Interact with a stray cat until the ADOPT option appears. I normally do this at Brindleton Bay. near the bar, fish stand, or docks.
What happens when the bug occurs? I press the ADOPT option on the stray cat and.....nothing happens. The sim stays next to the cat, not moving. The cat stays put too. Adopt is displayed at the botton left (where the interactions are shown), but that's all. Nothing happens. If you move your sim away from the cat, the interaction ADOPT disappears. No adoption occurs. It happens with any stray cat.
What do you expect to see? I expect to adopt the stray cat when pressing the ADOPT option.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
I have adopted stray cats before. Not often, last time maybe a few months ago, so I don't know when this bug started to happen. My guess would be after the last game update (??) Maybe. Don't know. Things were a little different in the game after the last update. For example: When I make a sim do something downstairs (clean, cook, etc. anything), while on the top floor, this sim doesn't go to the below floor unless I see him going down the stairs/ladder. Inconvenient? YES. Annoying? YES but still manageable. I hope it's fixed on the next game update.
Perhaps this bug has something to do with this.
I already "repaired" the game a few times, but nothing changed.
I don't use mods nor cheats nor anything of the sorts. I don't know how.

- @scuffz760 Did you try resetting the cat, or just the Sim? I’ve noticed that interacting with animals can cause hang ups when the pet’s invisible queue doesn’t cancel properly.
