I have the same issue. Just wasted a term only to fail despite working pretty hard. Wasn't expecting As but at least Bs.
Fs and Ds. Updated game versions, all the packs, all updates, no mods or CC, just playing the game.
It would be helpful if there maybe isn't a glitch but what is considered in the grading system would be nice to understand. Clearly it is not just adding up homework + term paper/final/presentation +attendence. My Sims photography skills is maxed at 5, but failing her photography course. Gurus, please illuminate us what is the formula?

If you create a character from scratch without any kind of skills and immediately have they enroll in college, they will have a harder time receiving high grades because the subjects are tied to skills. The more a skill is developed, prior to college enrollment, the better chance you will have of getting high grades. Unfortunately, homework and term papers alone are not enough.
To give an example, if you want to take cooking classes, you better develop the attached skill and also some mixology, prior to entering college.
It isn't only that. My Sim is in the Language and Literature distinguished degree, has level 7 Research and Debate, Writing and Charisma skills, does all the homework, studies all the time not in class or doing homework, is focused on 1 unit during just this time, with MCCC I have made uni twice as easy to pass... and my Sim still shows "minimum effort" in class. I don't understand. I didn't play for a year and was able to easily have MCCC not making uni easier and do 3 units a semester in this same distinguished degree and get As in all of them while holding down a part time job. Uni is one of my favourite things to do in Sims 4. This makes the game almost unplayable for me. I expect for an add on that needed to be payed for, the product should work.
