I also have this issue, but my sims did not take it in their inventory. It just disappear upon loading. I could not say when it happens or why.
Could this be the same issue as the My Wedding Stories disappearing tea sets? Sims often think those are dirty dishes and throw them away.
It is exactly the same bug as the tea sets in My Wedding Stories. A little while after purchase, whether they’ve been used or not, they “spoil” and become dirty. I’ve noticed that when a Sim collects dirty dishes around the area and washes them, they also remove the tea sets, pressure cookers, and electric kettles that “spoiled” due to the bug. Until it’s fixed, your Sims will have to repurchase the items after nearly every use.
This is still happening even after they fixed the dirty surroundings moodlet from the kettle with the recent patch. I have to buy a new kettle every time I play. It doesn't only disappear from the Lot and HH inventory as the title says, it also disappears straight from the sim's personal inventory.
