[FIXED] Game crashing/visual issues on character values UI menu

Sounds like we're having the same issue. Except this happens whenever I open the child's Simology panel, regardless of whether or not I do anything before.

Hi! I'm SimmerStar4 (they/them). I'm not an expert on game issues, so don't take me as one! I'm just a Sims player who wants to try and help fellow players, and who finds game bugs and issues interesting.

I performed the extremely large update today and since then I am no longer able to “play” the game. I go to click on the needs icon and it will pop up but once I click on any of the other icons, nothing shows up and then my cursor disappears and when I push the start button the window will not pop up so I have to force close the game.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Loading into a save file that existed prior to the latest update that dropped on 07/23/2024 in anticipation for the release of the newest expansion pack.
What happens when the bug occurs? Unable to click into various sims UI/modes of game play. For adult Sims, once you are able to get into their profile, in the background appears a glitched out copy of the "Character Traits" meters. If the sim is a teen or younger, their "Character Traits" meters are continuously fluctuating between maxed red/green and back again, and no other personality/trait/milestone panels appear. Clicking into build mode while trying to look at any of the panels (aspiration, needs, personality, inventory, etc.) causes the open panel to be stuck on the screen, and the UI for build/buy mode doesn't show up at all. All UI at the top of the screen (Gallery, Camera, Main Menu, etc.) are unable to be clicked on and opened. This causes me to have to Alt Esc out of the game and end the game manually through "Task Manager".
What do you expect to see? All sims info should be available, "Character Traits" shouldn't be fluctuating nonstop between red/green zones unprompted and should not be appearing behind other sims info, build/buy mode should be functional, all UI should be operational, should not have to manually terminate the game using "task manager".
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

I expect that when a mandatory update comes out for the game it would have been tested with all other packs to make sure it doesn't break the whole game. I should be able to open and view all sims information, access build/buy mode and save/exit my game without having to go through "task manager" on my computer to manually close the program. I was playing the game for 4 hours prior to the update with no issue, exited for about thirty minutes to take a phone call, updated the game (as it would not let me play again without doing so) and then launched it again to see that my entire legacy save file has been broken by a base game update. I understand that the person reading this is not responsible, but after years of continuous negligence on EA's part, this has dealt a hefty blow to my confidence in the company. I expect others will be reaching out soon with similar issues.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? try to look at a newly aquired milestone for a child sim
What happens when the bug occurs? trying to click on that pannle that has every bit of info from every pack causes the entire ui to break; i can no longer click on anything. i cant even save; i ligitamitly have to just power off my entire computer; causing lost progress
What do you expect to see? the pannle pops up so i can check the new milestone

im not sure what more info to put here since 'missing ui' isnt somthing that can be screenshotted; but if it helps yalls recreate my current household is 3 young adult and 2 child sims; and when i logged off yesterday the two children had just gotten the first day of school milestone but i diddnt open the pannle with one of them; and trying to open her pannle is what breaks everything

I am having the same issue on my mac. It happened after both updates. I have to go to force quit out as I am unable to use any of the menu options. 

I've got a similar but slightly different problem. No Teens in my household. Just a Single Young Adult and three Toddlers. When I hired a Nanny she was constantly gaining Responsibility every time she cleaned something or repaired the doll house. I thought Characteristics stopped changing once a Sim reached Young Adult? My Young Adult Sim also gained a Good reputation even though she has never once left the house or spoken to anyone other than the three toddlers and the nanny.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a household with a young adult (or older) sim and a teen. Go to the info panel about the sim where the character values are.
What happens when the bug occurs? If you do this on the adult sim nothing happens, however, on teens (possibly children and toddlers too, I have not tested) the game starts acting weirdly due to the character values constantly going all the way up and then all the down. (see attached screenshot) The pop-up menu such as exiting the game or different tabs about the teen on any other sim are not opening.
What do you expect to see? The character values to stay static where they have been before, and not move constantly up and down.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

No matter which save file i go to this happens. Same for new games

What happens when the bug occurs? As soon as I open my game I cannot access any panels (nor main menu), none of the panel buttons work except build mode button; I may switch from living mode to build mode but then I cannot switch back to living mode again. Game is completely unplayable and I have to force it closed through rask manager.
What do you expect to see? The game working!!!

Please describe the patch or change you made. The newest updateså. I have both updates from today (the last update made it worse, it was buggy on the first update but atleast half playable). I and have also tried repairing the game, which did not affect the issue at all.

I have no screenshots, but see many others describing similar issues who have attached files. Just wanted to add in because it seems my game is hit harder, as I dont even have to open anything to break it.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open the game, launch a save and play with a family.
What happens when the bug occurs? I launch my save and play with the family I am currently playing with, but when I clic on any panels (Aspiration, inventory, relationship panel ...) none of them exept for the needs panel opens. When I clic on a certain sim which is a kid (always the same one) and open the profil panel (the one with the traits ...) nothing shows up on the panel exept for the character values and the levels keep going from 100 to -100 without stopping and when I go to another character this panel stays in the background and the other panels show on top of it. When I want to close my game, the escap button doesn't work and the menu doesn't show up either when I clic on the three dots at the top right corner of the screen. I have removed my mods but the same issue occurs.
What do you expect to see? My game should be working properly with the panels showing normally and the character values of one of my sim not going up and down continously. And the menu should show up when I hit the escap button or clic on the three dots on the top right of the screen.

I had MCC installed (that I took out of my mod folder before the updat) I put it back in the mod folder after the patch but then took it out again when I saw the issue.
