[FIXED] [GRO] Facial features shrink after loosing tooth (Patch 1.97.62)

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.62.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs, all game packs, all stuff packs except the sports pack, a few kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a child sim. Save the child to your library before they get the lose tooth. Wait until the child loses their tooth. Compare the child to their earlier version that was saved to your library. It is more visible if you age the child up into a teen.
What happens when the bug occurs? Your child sims genetics get distorted when the lose tooth comes off. The facial features shrink.
What do you expect to see? The sims genetics remaining the same after the lose tooth coming off.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

This child sim was born after the lose tooth feature was disabled for awhile. Hence, her genetics cannot be affected by the original lose tooth bug. Before patching my game I saved her to my library. She got the lose tooth moodlet, and the tooth came off. In her child form the difference is not very clear, but it is super clear when you age her up. Her facial features shrank significantly. Please, EA, if it's too difficult to fully fix this feature, unless make it optional for players. I prefere having sim kids with normal features over the tooth thing which doesn't add that much gameplay wise.

I have some cc in my game but not mods atm.

Here's a picture of her before and after losing a tooth. As you can see, her eyes and chin shrunk significantly.

  • Altering your Sim's look with the Get Famous Stylist Chair, getting a Tooth Extraction from Growing Together, or putting on that fabulous Crystal Creations Jewelry will no longer lead to unexpected body or face transformations.

    Fixed in Patch 1.113.277/2.08

This should now also def be fixed. Please create a new thread if you still have issues.

@Fallonia I do think the facial feature issue is a legit issue but I'm unsure about the black skin that could be caused by mods (one user said it was a mod for them).

Did you get the black skin without any mods ? If you do, please use the thread I linked in Post #2 for that.

    Thanks

  • Here’s another example of this glitch. Another kid who was born after the patch. First as her genetics should be, second how she ended up being after losing a tooth a couple of times.

This is so scary! I did not want to update my game because this glitch is STILL around! Before I was still on the patch where this tooth loss feature was taken away. Now I am so anxious that my kid will be also messed up if she looses her teeth.

But it is kinda weird that this thread has only 2 persons who had this problem since the tooth patch. If this bug was still a big problem then more people would have complained about it, right? I'm confused.

  • @MissLjupka Yeah I wonder too why there are only a few people reporting this issue here. Maybe this glitch doesn’t happen to everyone anymore, also I play in long lifespan so it gets gradually worse after every occasion they lose their teeth. After one time it’s not that bad/visible so many people might miss it. I’ve seen some people on social media complaining about this too, but apparently not everybody remembers to report the glitch. From now on, until a modder makes a fix for this, I will always save my kids to my library before they lose their teeth and then copy the genetics with MCCC.

This is a sneaky one. How would you know your sim is not the way they should be if you have never seen them as they should be?

I had one of my sims on the gallery as a toddler, and she lost multiple tooths as a child. So I decided to check what her gallery version looked like:

Here is what she looked like when aging up after loosing teeth:

I only see a difference in hair color, but that is because those two hair styles look different with the same swatch ( in her case the third one).

I played completely without mods for most of her life, but at point of aging up I had mccc, shorter teens and LGBTQIA+

Would be interesting to know what makes it happen for some people (since I want to avoid it)

It was a bug that occurred with the Growing Together update. The game has since been patched, so the bug has been squished.

  • I ended up accepting my fate and edited all my sims manually. I don't think there's a need for screenshots anymore but just imagine sims with squished features, tiny dots for eyes (really think they shrunk to the smallest scale) and very long, skinny limbs. Not every sim was affected though, seemed like mostly teenagers and adult males. Weird, scary bug!

    Hello All,

If anyone of you are still encountering this on the latest game version (without mods), would you be willing to share your save file(s)?

If so, please send me a private message with a link to the file.

    Instructions here: http://x.ea.com/74420

    Thanks!
