[FIXED] [GTW] Retail food items vanished

I've added it to the list.

I delete the localthumbcache file nearly every time I play, so that fix didn't work for me. I played Get Together for at least a week without ever having a problem with retail. But I was only visiting retail lots that my family owned. Once I visit a retail lot that is NOT owned by the active family, all food disappears. The food even disappears from the Lice freezer, which is why sims open it, but can no longer buy.

My workaround is to never visit a lot unless it is owned by the active family. I can still switch to a different household, but I am careful not to travel to a lot that they do not own. All food now remains intact. This is only a temporary solution, of course. Most of my retail lots are NPC owned so this is a major bug in my book.

Wonder why it's not happening to everyone and why it' fixed for some in new games. 

I didn't get a chance to try this myself but hopefully this weekend.

@Crincrit, I haven't seen anyone yet who has fixed the problem by starting a new game. GaiaPuma said she used a new sim and a new retail shop. Also, her issue sounds a bit different from the rest of us. She reported food disappearing from all community lots, (which sounds like a new mechanic added by GT.) This might be why she partially solved her problem by deleting localthumbcache. @GaiaPuma, can you please confirm that food does not disappear from your shop when you visit it with a different family? Because that's the issue the rest of us are having.

As for why it's not happening to everyone, I believe it is, but you have to take very specific steps to make it happen. There is no food on sale by default in Magnolia Promenade. So, you have to either:

A.1. Cook food

   2. Mark it for sale in a retail shop

   3. Switch to a different household

   4. Send the second household to the shop or

B.1. Place an NPC shop from the gallery and mark food for sale

   2. Send your family to visit the shop

There's also a long thread at the official forum and at some other forum I read. I thought some said it worked for them in a new game but not sure..

Anyways @GaiaPuma was not the only one that this didn't happen .. whatever the reasons 😉

Okay. I'll see if I can find the thread on the official forum. I'd like to know what other's experiences are.

I really can't remember if that's where it was though or if I simply mix up issues (which is entirely possible with all the bug reports posted since GT :D

Thanks for the link. That's the thread I just finished reading and didn't see where anyone had success with a new game. I did read some wonkiness about re-loading a save and having the food remain afterwards. Probably still temporarily, because the game hasn't "cleaned up" the lots yet. It seems the new cleanup mechanic that was added by GT is just a little overzealous and is wiping out food on all community lots. It doesn't consider whether the lot is retail or has food marked for sale that should be there. Also, I read that some people place food on random community lots as part of their gameplay. So I don't know how EA can add a cleanup system that will not mess up gameplay for these people. 🤔
