[FIXED] Masterpiece Paintings and Bestselling Books Becoming Excellent Quality

    Artists and Authors fear not! Masterpiece Paintings and Best-Selling Books will no longer change to “Excellent Quality” after saving and reloading. Phew!

    Fixed in Patch 1.104.58/1.86

    Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issue,

@gertie47 My sims masterpiece paintings do this too, but the option to sell them an art gallery and the pop-up asking if I was sure if I wanted to sell the masterpiece still appeared, so I am not sure what is happening. I use UI mods so it could be them - I have not yet tried without the mods to see if it still happens. Start a new save without the mods to see if the issue is still happening?

    Since there are also reports of it happening on console, it probably isn't due to mods.

    However it might just be UI issue, ie they are actually still a masterpiece "behind the scenes", just the GUI incorrectly displays them as Excellent. I need to do some more testing.

      @JimmiGSwe, I suppose the only issue is if they write/paint a new book/painting, we have no way of knowing if it should have been a Bestseller/Masterpiece. I've got my Sim writing again right now; he's 'very inspired', so I will see what kind of book he produces.

      I just checked up on my painter sim, who creates regular masterpieces, and one that I put on the wall yester-sim-day now has become 'excellent' (but it is still priced at over 7000 simoleons) .

        I just experienced this as well. My perfectionist sim painted a playful masterpiece, and I had her put it in her inventory temporarily while I moved some other paintings around. After placing the new masterpiece on the wall it now shows as excellent quality when hovering over it. 

        The option to sell to art gallery is still available as others have seen. Additionally, though, the tooltip still shows a playful ambiance level of 9; it definitely affects nearby sims as a masterpiece emotional painting would. It seems like the quality label on the painting is just displaying incorrectly. 

        Update: I just returned from the Spice Festival, and when hovering over the same painting the description now says that it is a masterpiece. 🤔
