Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Plant, tend and fertilize new, in season harvestables for several days.
What happens when the bug occurs? After just a few days and a couple of harvests, the plants will revert to dirt piles and take several days to return.
What do you expect to see? I expect them to stay in harvest for all or most of the appropriate season.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.

Please describe the patch or change you made. I patched to the latest version and added Horse Ranch and First fits kit.
I have had this issue occasionally before but it's definitely significantly worsened in the past couple of weeks.
I built a vineyard in Chestnut Ridge on the Red Roan lot and placed the cottage living garden patches in 3 rows with Summer and Fall fruits. The in season summer plants are only in harvest for a very short time. They are regularly fertilized with horse manure or fruit, have evolved twice and tended daily. My Sim has above average gardening skill. The in season fruit plants revert to dirt piles after a couple of days but when growing back from a dirt pile some reappeared as dead plants with green clouds. The pineapple plants grew back normally though. I have blackberry, blueberry, elderberry I think that were affected. Chocoberry is okay. But in a probable link, they also have invisible weeds too and say they need weeding when they don't. I also have lemon and cherry trees that keep reverting to dirt piles but seem to return without problems.
I also checked my farmers market and my plants aren't growing there, including my sheltered plants. Usually my current household arrives there before the morning harvest and tends the garden and harvests any plants as I left it open to make all harvestables available all the time.

Edit: images added. It came for the pineapples today too, reverted to dirt piles while still in season and grew back as dead plants.
