[FIXED] Stair rails disappear w/wall placement partially covering from the top

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.99.264.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All released DLC
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Build a staircase with a railing and apply a wall to one or both sides that starts at the top and terminates prior to the bottom.
What happens when the bug occurs? The railing except for the newel post at the bottom disappears.
What do you expect to see? The railing from the point of termination of the wall to the bottom of the stairs.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

To start, I discovered this in a brand-new save file that I prepared for patch 1.99.264.1030 by removing my original Sims4 folder from Documents > Electric Arts and then starting the game to the welcome screen, closing the game and generating a fresh Sims 4 folder. This is the only save currently in that folder as I have not replaced my mod folder, or save folder, only my tray folder. I noticed the glitch in a house from my library that I placed on the 64X64 lot in the new Chestnut Ridge world in the Riders' Glen neighborhood of EP 14. So to ensure that this isn't an occurrence particular to that world or lot I made a blank box in Newcrest to further experiment and had the same results.

  • A staircase placed against a wall on one side with the other side open the railing disappeared on the wall side but remained intact on the opposite side as expected.     

  • A staircase placed in the center of a room with no wall on the other side both railings appeared as expected. 
  • A staircase placed with a wall on side that follows the entire run of the staircase from top to bottom but with a wall on the opposite side that only follows part of the run from the top terminating prior to the bottom causes the railing to entirely disappear except for the newel post at the bottom of the staircase.

  • But the railing will reappear if the bottom of the staircase is turned at a 90-degree angle and also if it's turned further so that it sits flush with the wall on one side.

I can't say for sure if the railing glitch started with the most recent patch 1.99.264.1030 or if it started with the patch for EP 13 as I think it was stated in the livestream for that patch 1.96.365.1030 that the issue of stair rails clipping through walls was addressed then. I just happened to notice it with this EP and its preceding patch update.

    • Stair Railings no longer disappear when one tile is placed next to a one tile room.

    Fixed in Patch 1.108.289/1.94
    Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issues.

    I have this exact issue, too, but haven't been able to make my report yet. I first noticed it after the most recent patch as one of my homes didn't have this problem until right after the latest patch for the EP.

    I just had this issue myself a couple of hours ago.  The stair is about 3 tiles long.  There is a wall one tile in length along one side at the high end of the stair and the railing doesn't show on that side.  There is, however, a post at the bottom of stair on the no-railing side.  I feel like it's mocking me.

    I noticed this bug in my game today. The railing from the stairs is missing, just like in the pictures shown. I tried placing down new stairs, but it remains the same. I too have a wall next to stairs, which covers the upper half of the stairs. 

    Hope it gets fixed, because it doesn't look right.

    I’ve been having this issue too and it’s messed up a lot of my homes. Hope they patch it so it only affects specific tiles instead of the whole stairwell.

    Is anyone else running into this issue? My game won't allow me to put up stair railings if I have a wall going under the top step (so it's not interfering with the steps).  However, it gives me a post at the bottom of the steps and missing the stair railing.

    @JanuaryGarnet08 I am having this issue as well, and it is affecting the look and quality of my builds to the point where everything is done except banisters. I'm so frustrated!

    Still broken as of Patch 1.101

    Apparently fences are now causing stair railings to disappear as well. The problem got worse, not better, and apparently it's obvious that EA and the Sim Gurus give zero fribbs about this bug.

    In the top screenshot, the stairs are supposed to have railings on both sides of the stairway. However, in the recent update, the railings disappeared as if a wall was still built next to it (that still hasn't been fixed by the way)

    In the bottom screenshot, the same situation occurs, but in both the lower and upper stair cases, where the stairway is missing a railing, but there is  a railing in the middle because it is not intersecting a wall.

    WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

    In the Growing Together update, the developers added a quote-unquote "feature" where the railing will only show up on one side of the stairs; however, rather than taking the time and effort into redoing/adding the stair railing build tool (which many Simmers have been requesting for years), they just modified the stair railing behavior to automatically hide the railing if it intersects with a wall (probably to get rid of the infamous stair railing clipping glitch that's plagued builders for many years) However, because of the broken glitchy nature of the game's coding, they didn't anticipate that this broke many Simmers' builds. And this very bug that's going on is the end result of this massive development oversight.
