I removed the vanity from my house to make this stop and it still keeps happening. It's really annoying to have random embarrassed moodlets whenever I'm trying to work on skills. Also, they won't actually do what I told them to do. The action will finish about a third of the way then stop and won't start again unless I cancel the action and start it again.

Are you sure you don't have more than one table in the house ? For me it stopped when I moved it tot he household inventory
Second one: Is that for al interaction ? Are you using mods in your game ? Best to make a new thread for that in the general forum so it can be troubleshooted with you

This is a common occurrence in my sim game. It happens every time I play. My sim child starts to use the vanity table without being in front of the vanity table. It first started at the kids art table. While she was drawing I saw her applying powder. When I had her eat at the dinning room table she would start to apply makeup while she ate. Once she became a teen she didn't do this anymore. But I when the other child became an child from toddler stage he is applying makeup at the dining table. I thought that maybe it was a bug from the kids crafting table so I sold it. Seems that whenever I have my kids do anything at a desk or table they apply makeup. I have a vanity table on the lot but the kids can't use it at all because I have locked the door. This is frustrating since my kids would have negative moodlets because they applied the makeup wrong. I have to constantly watch them when they are at a table to cancel the cue when it pops up.
I don't use any mods; None whatsoever not even enhancements. My game runs on Intel quad core i7, 8gb ram, AMD Radeon HD 5770 graphics card on Windows 7.
@MissEshia moved to the bug forum.
I've been having the same issue and its really irritating me. I found that making them "Change Appearance" or Plan Outfit at dressers or mirrors removes the makeup, but that's just too much of a hassle for me to go through every time it happens randomly (because it does happen randomly) and it takes loading screens to do that. The first couple of times it happened with my twin boys I just assumed they had somehow gotten into their mother's room and used the vanity, but I witnessed it just tonight while he was eating at the dining table.
Its a shame too because I really like having the vanity around. Ah well I'm just going to put it away for now and hope that this gets fixed.

I have been having the same issues! Children carry on using the vanity and applying makeup without actually using or even being near to the vanity table.
Causing embarrassed moodlets meaning I cannot complete aspirations -i.e. it happens a lot at activity table meaning I cannot get the kid to "complete drawing whilst inspired".
I have removed the vanity now but hopefully this bug gets fixed.

Lol...I'm sorry, but this bug is hilarious. It's bad and it needs to get fixed, but threads about it make me laugh every time.
Maybe I'm just lucky, since this doesn't happen in my game at the moment. I have a vanity and four children in the current household and I've never once seen any of them use it - at the actual vanity or elsewhere. All four kids are vampires, though. I don't know if that makes a difference. I've been keeping an eye out for any of the children to be running around with random makeup on but I've never seen it.

I just tested it for several in-game hours and the issue seems to be fixed :eahigh_file:
