[GALLERY] Unable to properly filter by pack

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.108.349.1020 DX9
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All Expansions, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Go into the gallery and filter any pack and it will not show popular now, newest or most popular rooms/households or lots with ANY of the packs you have selected
What happens when the bug occurs? Nothing as said the gallery is not filtering as opposed to doing something else
What do you expect to see? I expect to see an updated list of builds/households/lots with at least the pack that the filter has been applied for (I am aware that the filter function works by showing you all creations with said filter as opposed to just the option that has been filtered).
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I don't know if this is affecting anyone else but the gallery pack filter is not filtering at all for me. I am aware that the gallery pack filter works as an inclusive tool rather than an exclusive tool, so if you filter for lets say Dream Home Decorator it will show you all builds with dream home decorator but as of right now it isn't even doing that. I have all the packs so filtering is important to me because I don't particularly want to download base game builds, because I hate building in the Sims so I always filter to have Dream Home Decorator and other packs etc. however as of right now, no matter what filter you enable it will only show base game builds (because they are the most popular) the other issue is that you don't even have the luxury of filtering by hashtag because majority of people hashtag whatever is trendiest to boost their builds (usually base game) and so currently there is no way to filter and see builds or households with any packs.

I uninstalled my mods folder to see if it was a conflicting mods issue, restarted the game and the gallery still isn't filtering, I repaired my game, restarted the game and the gallery still isn't filtering im not sure when this issue first occurred because after the lovestruck update, the gallery was definitely still filtering, but as of right now it's not filtering for anything (at least for me).

I am really not a builder so if the gallery isn't filtering, there's no joy in playing The Sims 4 so I hope his issue can be fixed.

  • @_Auberg1n3_ Do you filter by just one pack ? If so, it might be a problem of just being so many builds that are just base that it looks like it's not working

I tried with just DHD and didn't find any results but when adding a hashtag for DHD as well, it found many with still only that one pack filter applied.

@crinrict Ive always filtered by 1 pack and its been fine only recently has this been an issue, and the other issue is not every simmer uses hashtags because they shouldn't have to if people are filtering by packs, if you filter for dhd and add a dhd hashtag and then try popular now nothing comes up because hardly anyone uses hashtags and what you will find is that a lot of people with base game use pack specific hashtags so there's no winning.

@_Auberg1n3_ Just wondering if something changed about how they display it. If you do use a hashtag, do you get any results ?

Trying to find out if it's a matter of them being not show at all or if it's just hard to find them.

Oh no, indeed, the filtering has been changed to something really not helpful ☹️

Previously when filtering for 1 pack it was showing all builds that at least use that 1 pack, which is very helpful, if we want to see all the new builds of lovestruck for example.

But now, when filtering for 1 pack, it shows millions of basegame builds and between them may be some that also use that 1 pack and nothing else, but they are impossible to find now, as there are too many basegame builds flooding the list. ☹️

There is no way anymore for us to just see all builds that use at least a certain pack, to see what has been build with that pack, as now we would have to tap on all possible combinations of packs with that one pack, and would also still have to scroll through millions of basegame-only builds.

This is very unhelpful, now filtering does not filter anymore for how most users need to use the gallery ☹️

Please change it back, it was so good before 😢 Or at least give us an option to filter the old way too.

@karoschmitz Guess they finally changed it to exclusive instead of inclusive like everyone wanted but made it that any builds that have at least one of the selected packs (including base) shows.

It would probably have been best to only show items that have all the packs selected.

Live if you choose DHD, only builds with DHD only show but that might also have it's negative sides as a lot of people probably just use the filter to download stuff that they can have with the packs they have. Which makes the exclusive filter the best.

Made a little twitter poll as i'm curious what people prefer: https://x.com/crinrict/status/1828712409973797214

I am moving this out to gallery for now as I don't think it's a bug.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I have them all scattered across multiple accounts I have connected to the console.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? You will need to go to gallery. Scroll down to packs and click basegame. Then you will try to select a specific pack or just kits .
What happens when the bug occurs? What happens is the gallery will not update/refresh by your custom search. Will remain on basegame items or simply wont refresh

Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.

Feedback for the Sims team as consideration:

With the new system we have lost some use cases for filter search, I hope they consider adding a checkbox to choose between the old inclusive search and the new exclusive search:

    1. When a new pack comes out it was really helpful to be able to filter for that pack to see all the inspiring creations of the community using it in combination with other packs. Now there is no way to find these anymore, I can only find builds that limit the use to just 1 pack, which is barely any builds. What I would like to be able to see is this pack + any others.

    2. When wanting to find builds that use a combination of packs, for example I love the homechef kitchens and tick that but also want the build to use the nice dark crystal creations items, I tick this too, and I was able to then even add a hashtag like playtested to find all the best playtested builds with my favourite styles included, in addition to other packs (given it is impossible to predict all the exact packs builders could choose for their build). It is impossible now to reach such a helpful search result anymore. Now the filters only cater for users that would most likely just use the “show owned packs” option.

    3. It is impossible now to do such a simple search like finding all retails that sell lovestruck items: Now if I filter for lovestruck pack + retail lot type I get only a handful BG results as retails need GTW, but if I add GTW filter I only see GTW retails without LS 😞

The previous search was a lot more versatile and helpful. Please consider bringing it back as a choice with a little checkbox or a search type like we have that drop down for “owned pack”, “base game” “custom” 🙏🏻

I don't think there's any need for that, as you can still find those retails by just searching with #lovestruck .They just need to add base game to the filters tab in order to show selected packs creations while excluding ones that just use base game.

@Cowcolate Unfortunately not all people add tags to their builds, it's not a reliable way to find all builds that have a pack. Especially if you are looking for a combination of several packs the tagging is useless.
