[IL] Mermaids can't clean trash on land

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.71.86.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All that's now available.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In Sulani neighborhood on Mua Pel'am island.
What happens when the bug occurs? If I have a mermaid sim, he/she can not clean the trash on land, just in the water. A normal sim can do that in both places.
What do you expect to see? The mermaid sim can clean the trash on land.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

    @pandaa094 What happens if they try ? Do the not get the option to do so or do they get a routing issue (can't currently test myself)

    Please also check your game version to see if you have the lastetet patch. Currently we're on 1.72

    Hello,

    in my game, they get a routing issue. I tried many ways with old and new saves but always doing the same.

    @pandaa094 

    I tested this in a new game without mods and cc.  I created a new mermaid and put her on the lot near the volcano.  She was able to clean up the trash piles on the land from the environmental cleanup challenge and the trash piles that the litterbugs made with no problem.  I didn't get any routing errors.

    You could try creating another mermaid and see if the new one can pick up the trash.  It might just be that one sim with the problem.

    So the only other thing I can suggest that you try other than updating the game as @crinrict has suggested is to delete the localthumbcache file to see if either will fix the issue for you. If neither fixes it, then you could try a game repair too.

    @CGrant56 Deleting the localthumbcache file only works temporarily. The trash piles on the beach which were already generated by the game can be removed then, but when new ones get generated the bug starts happening again. The trash piles in the water do not cause any problems. I do have mods in game, so I shall test out whether the bug also occurs in a vanilla save, but I don't know what exactly could cause this, since I do not have any mods which affect mermaids or Sulani. Will also test out whether this affects mermaids only or also other sims.

    @pandaa094 @CGrant56 Pretty sure this is caused by the sleeping in water action. Mermaids can interact with trash piles just fine until the first time they sleep in the water. After sleeping in water, they can’t unless you delete the cache.

    @PipMenace I just had this issue as well; two Mermaids who slept in water before, and the reset object cheat only worked once on one of them (I tried that on both the trash pile and mermaid, but that was really the only time that worked). I deleted my localthumbcache file, and that solved it, at least temporarily. But a temporary workaround is definitely better than just having to deal with this bug.
