Moodlets instantly collapse

I've got this too on console and it's frustrating as I have an issue with random sad moodlets. I see that little blue stripe and have to pause the game to find out why they are sad this time. It takes a few attempts to see what the moodlets are as they instantly collapse. I'm not sure if it's a bug or a feature. I always thought it was intentional. But it's definitely inconvenient.

I see this as well. Relatively minor issue, but makes it difficult to see what's going on.

You need to run complex games where lots of things are happening at same time and influencing changes in moods etc. If you're playing a new save and trying to find issue there, your two moodlets won't collapse...you need like 8 or 15 moodlets going on at once and have them getting influenced by other sims around you as well as loads of different items that affect mood.  THEN you will see the moodlet bar collapse when you try to see what's going on at end of it - when you try to click the very long bar open.

And even this isn't a constant. This is just an issue that happens often and only during lots of chaos. Which complex games will often have.

What seems to be happening is all the chaos, sims, and various buff and debuffs are flipping the moodlets around both in their location on bar and in amount they are getting affected by these other factors.

What needs to be happening is the chaos and moodlet volatility does not affect the ability of this moodlet bar to stay open when clicked.

On console (Xbox series S) so can't share saves but FYI this is also happening to notifications too and has been for a while. So maybe linked?

It only shows one old notification just as it often only shows one moodlet and I have to click on both to expand. New notifications cause it to flicker but it doesn't change to the new one. I assumed at first that it was by design but possibly not as I guess it's not the intention for us to keep pausing gameplay to read notifications and click on all the moodlets to identify what they are. 

You dont need our savegames. Just play and get your sim to receive more than five moodlets.

 We dont need nor want a different timer for the auto-collapse. This is not helping! This bug exists since the basegame and if you arent awar of it then you arent playing your own game. How can you not know about this? Especially after years of new expansions and gamepacks with countless new moodlets that only highlight this bug even more. The fact that console players encounter this too shows you cant blame mods.

The problem is they collapse ON THEIR OWN! INSTANTLY!

Like I explained there is sufficient room to display a dozen moodlets but by default usually only three are visible, the rest is collapsed for no rational reason. THAT needs to be adressed. Simply remove the auto-collapse, add a little button at the end to collapse them WHEN WE NEED IT and this problem goes away.

This sounds like a feature you'd like changed, rather than a bug.

I thought it was a feature at first but now I doubt it's intentional as in my case it takes a few attempts to even open them, they just collapse in a millisecond. I'm sure devs don't intend for us to keep pausing the game to try to read our more impactful moodlets. Same with notifications if, as I suspect it's linked. Where it just flickers and shows and old notification.

With the moodlets I'm noticing it more with several. For example when they first get up in the morning and only have 2 or 3, they are all open. Then as they carry out actions, interact, eat, take a shower, more moodlets are obviously added. I've got used to ignoring them but it became more of an issue if for example I get random sad moodlets at the end of the list and opening it to see what's making them sad takes pausing the game and trying to prise that blue line open while it just collapses immediately. Same if I'm exploring the jungle and I want to check for curses/blessings.

The solution is to change the feature because its currently bugged and the hopefully intended version is undesirable. Who would want automatic collapsing moodlets? Who actually believes this is not a bug???

After some searching I found up to four year old bug reports detailing the same problem. FOUR YEARS! And after months in this bug report I see the devs are simply ignoring or not grasping the problem.

I also did some testing. When expanding the moodlets and doing absolutely nothing, they remain expanded. When I use right click to move, they remain expanded. But when I use left click they collapse so fast before the pie menu comes up. Then on the next sim they instantly collapse even when I dont do anything.

As a comparison the windows for career, relationships and others in the lower right all remain open once opened regardless if we use right or left click anywhere (except the buttons to open them). Which is exactly how moodlets should operate.
