Could anyone experiencing this issue possibly share a save file with me? You can DM the link to me, thanks for the help!

I sent you my save file on 4/11/2020. The DM subject is the same as this issue title with (Save five) at the end.

I observed something similar with other, random things (queued actions and tasks) and found briefly opening the build mode 'fixes' this.
Does opening the build mode for a second help here?

I just encountered this issue with my sim at level 9 of the Computer Engineer branch of the Engineering career. Practicing programming for any length of time would not complete the task.
There seems to be the wrong test type in the tuning file for the objective "objectives_engineer_common_PracticeProgramming".
<T n="display_text">0x220A951E<!--Practice Programming--></T> <V n="objective_completion_type" t="iterations" /> <V n="objective_test" t="ran_interaction_test"> <U n="ran_interaction_test"> <L n="affordances"> <T>31232<!--computer_Programming_Practice--></T> </L> <V n="running_time" t="enabled"> <T n="enabled">160</T> </V> <E n="test_event">InteractionUpdate</E> </U> </V> <T n="relative_to_unlock_moment">True</T> <T n="resettable">True</T> <T n="tooltip">0x159FCED7<!--Practice Programming at a Computer.--></T>
The objective completion type should be "use_test_result" instead of "iterations":
<V n="objective_completion_type" t="use_test_result" />
Changing that single line of code allows the work from home task to complete as intended after practicing programming for 160 sim minutes (2h 40mins of sim time). I hope that helps you fix it.

This isn't just the Computer Engineering field, also the Freelance Crafter career (Bug link below) is having similar issues. This is repeated issue dating from a previous patch where it was repaired around Nov. 2020 but it is back again.
Does this mean you will be looking into what is causing the issue to these careers again and fix the issue soon?
I would like a response from a EA person at this point as it is continually getting broke then patched fixed and broke again.
- simplydawn4 years agoRising Adventurer@SimGuruNick Hi! It's been a few years since this was reported, but is it safe to assume that this has not yet been fixed? I'm currently playing an Engineer (lvl 4) & the Practice Programming work-from-home task will not complete no matter how many hours my Sims performs the task. I have a mod installed that lets me right-click to complete it, so I make due by having him program for a few hours & then I manually complete it. Do you still want safe files to review? Thank you. Have a great day!

Looks like this still hasn't been fixed as of 3/23/23. I'm having the same problem with the "practice programming" wfh task not completing or showing progress. It's happened at any level the task was assigned at, multiple times. I have yet to see it work.
- DamienThrone3 years agoRising Novice@Peachiepie7 Hi. I have the same issue, but I do get it to complete if I dedicate myself to it all day. This means keeping the sim selected and on task all day (otherwise he does off to do something else and it never does complete). If I do this, and only if I do this, he completes "practicing" in a little over six hours. That's a bit longer than it takes his partner to write and publish a bestseller (with breaks).

Practice programming does not have a progress bar so you just have to let them practice until it fulfils the task which takes a few sim hours but it does eventually fulfil

any progress on that ? its been 3 years

i just figured it out (im on pc btw), you have to go to foxburys university building and then press on the building opposite the water fountains
