This still isn't fixed apparently.
I left it in the commons accidentally (I was working on it during the 3 hour cool down from getting shocked by the robotics skill) -- got a message that it was moved into my household or personal inventory. The latter it isn't there and the former you can't get to while at university in dorm housing far as I can tell.
I tried the mod but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I will send the save file but in the meantime I guess my sim gets to study the same book for hours and hours to keep that straight A.
