[NEEDS SAVES] Upgraded fire-proof objects catching fire a lot

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? n/a
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions, Vampires, Outdoor retreat, Spa day, Dine out, 7 stuff packs.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a sim upgrade a fire.
What happens when the bug occurs? Upgraded Fireguarded fires, are catching on fire a lot.
What do you expect to see? Was expecting upgraded fires to not catch on fire, or not more than not upgraded ones.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Last patch.

The fireguard upgrade is causing fires, since the last patch. I had a sim living in VIII Landgraab Apt. After the patch I had a lot of fires including 5 fires in 2 sim days, which is double what I have had since playing Sims 4. I had her move to the penthouse in the Arts district and installed a fire after I had her upgrade it, I sent her to the festival outside. While at the festival I had her light some fireworks and was notified of a fire. I was searching the festival area but could not find a fire, so I checked her apartment and found the fire, it had spread into a second room through the wall, from the bedroom it had started in. My sim lives alone and as the fire had autolight as well as fireguard, I have no idea how it started.

I do use mods, but have removed my mods folder, repaired the game and started a new game. I moved a sim from my library with the needed skills into VIII Landgraab Apt had her upgrade just 1 of the fires, as soon as I had her walk into the room it caught fire. So it seems very easy to reproduce. The other fire in the apartment that I have not upgraded has not caught fire, even though its been lit since she has lived there.

Are you still encountering this issue?
If so, would you mind uploading the lot to the gallery and let us know the lot so that we can try and reproduce the issue.

Feel free to add any specific steps you are following to reproduce the bug on the lot you are playing.

  • I'm having this option with ovens a lot recently.  It's happened particularly since I upgraded to the newest patch and it doesn't seem to matter whether the oven is good or bad quality, upgraded or not.

Not as yet because I didn't know how valid an old thread would be, and I use a few mods/

@mariefoxprice Do make sure to send a save with no mods. The request is only a few month so it should be still valid.

    Product: The Sims 4
    Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What is your current game version number? 2.01
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions except Cats and Dogs, Horse Ranch, Growing Together and For Rent. Game Packs: Vampires, Realm of Magic, Jungle Adventure, Werewolves Stuff Packs: Crystal Creations, Romantic Garden, Tiny Living, Cool Kitchen, Home Chef Hustle, Paranormal Stuff, Spooky Stuff Please note I DO NOT own Bust the Dust so this is not dust/filth related.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have an upgraded fireplace with fireguard...at some point a nonsense fire will start.
What happens when the bug occurs? Fires start in nonsense ways, like on WATER PUDDLES or in midair with NO BURNING OBJECT.
What do you expect to see? I am unsure if fireguard makes fireplaces accident fireproof or lowers the chances of it, but either way I expect fires to not break out on items/places that shouldn't be burnable like the middle of the air or water puddles.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. This has happened twice now in the past two days after patch 2.01.

All my fireplaces are upgraded with fireguard, which should lower or prevent (?) accident fires. The game description says "eliminate" which I assumed meant prevented altogether.

Either way, see attached screenshots. One fire started on water puddles my drown ghost left on the floor. The second fire started in midair. The floors are stone, and I do not own bust the dust so this is not a dust/filth issue.

Even if fireguard only lowers accidental fire chance (in which case the game text should be updated) it is nonsense for water puddles to be the object that is on fire.

I personally had not had this happen before the patch on Oct 22nd and now its happened twice. These fireplaces have set more fires in the past two days than any non-upgraded fireplace has in my households in the past month.

Having the same issue, but without having upgraded the fireplace. And it's not just the fireplace, but also radiators and bonfires.

I updated the game today, loaded into my recent save and suddenly there are fires at least on a Sim's daily.

Most of the times, the fire hasn't even yet appeared when there is a fire notification. I'm then frantically trying to figure out where it is. When I can finally locate the fire, I try to extinguish it but it already spread invisibly. I only realize because I can't replace burnt items and my Sims are still panicking. I hope this makes sense.

I deactivated all mods when the grim reaper event started, because it isn't working when they are active.

Edit: just had another fire under my dining table, and now I can't even replace the burnt items. Well, maybe somewhere there is still a fire raging that I can't see. (see screenshot) The options in German are Set Table and Vacuum Perfectly (not sure what they actually are in the English version)

  • I'm having the same issue over and over again - sometimes 3-6 times around the clock.

Once another fire broke out, even before the first one was extinguished.
