Hm, I was able to do this fine recently post-Get Together release. Bizarre.
Edit: That said, the bassinet was unoccupied. I'll have another look with a bassinet that houses a child and update.
Update: The design tool cannot be used on an occupied bassinet. Error prompt pops up at cursor "The Design tool cannot be used on this object".

@crinrict This topic came up on the Simulation Tech Talk thread in the forums. When asked why simmers could no longer change the color of a bassinet with a baby in it and if that could be fixed, SimGuruEugi responded on 9/21/16 with:
"We can look into it. The swatch tool from Build/Buy mode had to be disabled because, under the hood, it deletes and recreates the object. Babies can't be deleted, so that tool was causing issues. I'll relay your feedback."
Appears that for now you could mark this thread as "By Design". Based on his reply, it would seem more effective for simmers who want to see this changed to open and maintain a thread in the feedback section of the forums. Link to thread page for those who want to read for themselves:

This issue isn't so much "as designed" as it is "known shippable". Basically, it wouldn't be safe for engineers to try to fix this as it could cause other issues.

To clarify: being unable to use the design tool on the bassinet is "known shippable". The fact that boys are getting pink bassinets is a separate issue that we will investigate. Thanks!
