[OPEN] [CD] Not able to play fetch

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.99.264.1030 (64 bit)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? cats & dogs , laundry day , seasons , get to work , parenthood,
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? when trying to train or play fetch with a dog with a ball in inventory
What happens when the bug occurs? i try to play fetch, the sim begins the animation and then the sim reacts like there is no room no matter the amount of room
What do you expect to see? sims should be able to play fetch with dog in any available space
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Every time I try to train/fetch with the dog, the animation begins and then all of a sudden it cancels the interaction/the sims says there is no room. I at first though this was only happening because i was trying to train the dog to fetch inside the house. I tried outside in a backyard and the bubble saying they cannot proceed pops up and cancels the interaction.

    What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Island Living, Get to Work, Discover University, Cats & Dogs, Get Together, City Living, Cottage Living, Seasons, Snowy Escape, Get Famous
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Select ball, select "train to play fetch", select dog (play fetch is greyed out)
    What happens when the bug occurs? Animation starts, then it cancels with a "Can't do that" thought bubble over the sim's head.
    What do you expect to see? Should be able to train/play fetch with a dog in a house, in a park, outside in general, but alas.
    Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? With and without.
    Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Happened since I got the DLC - June 2023.  A year ago.

    A year later and a major "fixes patch" later... still broken.  Having animals in the game is great and all, but playing fetch with a dog is an extremely central part to having a dog.

    Is there a chance your pet has lazy or couch potato trait?

    Experiencing this issue in my game now too. Playing fetch used to be an effortless task that worked almost anywhere, even in confined spaces, now it doesn't work occasionally no matter what.
