Ditto, this needs to be fixed!
i understand the priority of the interupt - forcing parents to care for the infants but this is insane. Parents of multiples regularly have to * and triage needs. This constant stopping to check an infant and canceling essential things like feeding is madness

I notice sometimes they'll interrupt their own queue to check the infant. For example, they put the toddler in the high chair and sometime between putting the toddler in the chair and queueing getting the food they think to themselves "Huh, wonder how my toddler's doing" and put the toddler on the ground, interrupting all progress getting the starving child fed.
And if you have more than two adults in the household or a butler/nanny you can forget about ever getting anything done. It turns into a game of hot potato where everybody is moving the baby everywhere and the baby is not being cared for despite everybody interacting with her. She'd be happier if I locked her in a room alone, honestly. At least then she'd be able to get some sleep.

My infant needed to sleep badly, I put him in the crib, then the other parent comes autonomously to check infant and take him out to put him on the floor and leave him there, then the other parent take him to the play pen, then I have the other parent take the infant to the crib once more, then the other parents take the poor infant and put him back on floor, infant crying cause parents are dumb * lol, sorry I had to be funny, but this is infuriating... and whats even more frustrating is that 60% of the interaction I tried to do were auto cancelled, and cancelling myself interaction to check the infant failed, even when the adult was miles away and just continued to check the infant and drove him crazy...
- PipMenace3 years agoHero@Francoisf30 I'm actually getting this on toddlers too, even with only one parent. It's like the new "check infant" interaction is also applying to toddlers. My toddlers kept passing out because every time they tried to go to bed the adult Sim would autonomously wake them up to "check" them, pick them up off the bed, and put them down next to it. And I couldn't cancel, it would just immediately re-queue, even if I tried to send the parent jogging or make him go cook. I eventually had to go into build mode and build a little room around him in order to get my toddlers to bed.
The parent also kept interrupting them when they were trying to eat, and one time he actually queued "bottle feed" somehow though nothing happened other than him and the toddler staring at each other for a bit, preventing the toddler from eating the plate of food that was already in their hand.
I started with these Sims as toddlers - playing the too many toddlers scenario - so they were not aged up from infants.

EA PLEASE WORK ON THIS
"Check infant" HIJACKS the action queue, jumps AHEAD OF ALL USER QUEUED COMMANDS, and OFTEN causes the action queue to either: a) delete all other actions which had been queued or b) freeze the parent INDEFINITELY while they wait to "check infant" because the infant is technically doing some action ("what's this?" or "fuss" or "try to go night night" etc.) Unless cancelled before the parent starts the "checking animation" the sim will get a follow-up action based on whatever the AI decided the infant needed. OFTEN THE AI DOESN'T CHOOSE CORRECT, OR EVEN REMOTELY USEFUL ACTIONS FOR THIS FOLLOW-UP WHICH IS FORCED ON THEM, AND IT HIJACKS AND OVERWRITES USER DIRECTIONS EVEN WHEN AUTONOMY IS SET COMPLTETELY OFF.
This is EGREGIOUS. It is NOT HELPFUL. It makes the game LESS FUN TO PLAY and makes the AI WORSE. Playing a parent with multiple infants is essentially THE FINAL BOSS of MICROMANAGEMENT HELL -- that is, if you actually want to PLAY the stay-at-home-parent and interact with the infants, play with their milestones, etc.
The way to raise infants with the least micromanagement and frustration is to either: a) age infants up immediately and skip the entire life stage, thus not getting to experience all the gameplay of the entire life stage or b) play the parent off the home lot as much as possible, so the infant is sent to daycare and cared for until the infant's birthday, thus not getting to experience much of the gameplay the infant life stage has to offer.
If you want to avoid the issues caused by "check infant" 100% of the time, your only option is to not have infants, ever. Skip the life stage is the ONLY 100% GUARANTEE the "check infant" interaction won't cause at least one annoying incident for the player during the life stage.
"CHECK INFANT" NEEDS TO CHANGE.
IT'S A TERRORIST HIJAKER FOR THE PARENT AI.
IT'S OFTEN USELESS FOR THE SIM INFANTS.
IT'S A HINDRANCE TO THE SUCCESS OF THE LIFE STAGE AND A BURDEN ON PLAYERS TRYING TO HAVE FUN.
