@Veemo8 wrote:@EgonVMThey also appear restricted to packs even some base game deaths are restricted to packs (you need werewolves for meteor, and the recently made base game due to happy at home and high school years death by vending machine requires snowy escape) Also meteor is one of the child deaths as well.
Oh wow, I took a look into the Update Announcement video (which used only base game and Vampires), I noticed that yeah, Death by Meteor and Death by Vending Machine are missing.
Didn't notice these before. Nice catch!
Meteor being one of child deaths too... Interesting... I didn't have it happen when I tested it out (used telescope, got the warning, let the moodlet expire, nothing happened), but seeing as others say it has happened, I'll guess that Meteor is indeed one of the ways children can die by.

@EgonVM The death types are only restricted to occults in CAS, I cheated a mermaid to be death by drowning and it worked! But I agree these unnecessary restrictions were an oversight.
Interesting... It seems like then that the occult part in the tuning files tell which occult it can appear to in CAS... So occults that died by a "wrong death" won't be affected then...
The ghost traits use the same filter now that the other traits do. While this does prevent them from appearing in CAS, this also prevents the game from even equipping the trait, through gameplay or through cheats.
I only see one true solution here: introduce a new filter that only filters out ages in CAS, and remove the current age filter, making the ghost traits universal again and preventing quirky issues like this from happening.
Plus, there are still more weirdness in CAS. Teens have emotional deaths available, even though they can't die by emotions, Cringe sims cannot die by laughter, yet you can create Cringe laughter ghost etc...
Do it like The Sims 3 did: have every death available to every age and restrict those two occult-only deaths to those occults.
@EgonVMI agree, also allow adult pets to become ghosts due to Capitan Whitaker. Also do you mean only restrict the occult ghost types in CAS, but still allow them for cheating? Because if a spellcaster overload ghost doesn’t want to be a spellcaster they should stay an overload ghost
Also unrestrict the DLC death types because that’s what sims 3 did. Also I think it’s more like the sims 3 to have all deaths available in cas including the occult only ones, old age for non-elders, and all deaths for children. Also here’s some images showcasing that sims 3 didn’t restrict death type by age, occult and DLC in CAS. (I had only the game itself and supernatural installed) I created an old age YA ghost and child electrocution ghost to demonstrate. Also occult death types like haunting curse (only for witches) are available.

Yes, it would be nice if they want to go to the 'What's Possible In-Game' route in-game and cheats could be used to make impossible ghosts. The Sims 3 did exclude death by Thirst after all, but included all other occult-exclusive deaths (Haunting Curse and Dehydration)...
I agree a little bit on unrestricting DLC death types as most of the DLC death types will have no special ghost effects if that DLC isn't installed. Yet, if we have a DLC death that was reintroduced in multiple other packs, then the ability to create its ghost should be base game. And death by meteorite... I will question their decision to require Werewolves to create its ghost forever (it came with an update!).
- crinrict4 months agoHero+Hi everyone
there's several different threads and it would be best to keep comments to the issues of the thread.
This one is for children death only
There's also one for death types locked behind packs when they shouldn't, one for Whitaker, one for pregnant Sims and something else I can't think of atm.
Thanks all.- EgonVM4 months agoSeasoned Ace

Thanks all. Then I think it would be a good idea to make a master-thread for the death type trait changes because there are many problems that came from this with many threads made for these problems.
These all are caused by one thing: bad checks.
