New "Become playable Ghost" feature not working on my child sim

I tried this twice, the second time with my mods disabled but after my child sim dies from freezing to death and I select become playable ghost he just becomes a normal sim again?

    That’s because they made child ghosts only be allowed to be fire and drowning. They forgot about the other ways children can die
