I put these together since they are dealing with the footprints of the world. Not sure what more there is to say. If you need more info ask. thank you

As mentioned above I never use the eco footprint in my saves so it’s always disabled. I started a new save and all of the sudden my sims are hacking their lungs out and the sky is all dingy. I do not have any foot prints showing in the world map (see below) and their is nothing showing in the UI as far as the eco foot print.
I have the problem where I can't turn the eco effect off. The light rays slow down my game so I unchecked both eco boxes. I still get my worlds changing from neutral to green with the light rays.
I'm having the same issue: I turned the Enable Eco Footprint Gameplay option off, but one of the neighbourhoods in Evergreen is giving me acid rain and brown air and Sims coughing. I have to go to the settings, switch it on, then save, then switch it off, then save, then go out into world view and go back into the house to have the weather be without smog again. But I need to repeatedly do this whenever I play there again, which is very annoying, as I'm not interested in having pollution. FYI: I also have "Build mode items grant gameplay effects" switched off, in case this has any effect on pollution too, is that necessary?
Having this issue on PS5!! Keep having to turn the option on and off again
Editing this post again because honestly this is so annoying. Stupid neighbours keep coming in to destroying my stuff because I’m “ruining the environment” and my sims are losing all their money from the constant replacement of objects after fires started due to the “bad environment” which shouldn’t be a thing when I have the settings TURNED OFF
Having this issue on the Xbox Series S. Toggling the eco footprint option on/off doesn't work... It used to work like it did with the workaround for wants and fears, but it just stopped working completely. It makes no sense because I only have 2 played households and neither are trashy or should be pulluted in any way. Yet, my vampires are coughing and the sky is yellow.
I’m having this issue on PS4. I just started playing in a brand new save with the eco footprint gameplay toggled off, but even so, I got a notification that my sim’s home world has a neutral footprint and at least two other worlds have dirty skies. Toggling the effect on and back off does nothing.
I’m not sure if this bug is affecting my existing saves yet or not (I haven’t checked), but I do know it’s never happened to me before today.
I’m now experiencing this glitch on my laptop. Despite having turned the setting off in my brand new save, the eco footprint is still very much in effect. I noticed it when my sims starting coughing & getting moodlets about the air. They live in Willow Creek & the air was very dark & dusty. I had to use the cheat to set it back to neutral.
This has now happened in multiple saves, removed all mods so I know it's not a mod issue now as it was still happening. I have the environmental effects turned off in the options but my neighbourhood in Oasis Springs keeps becoming industrial even when I have it turned off. If I toggle the setting it turns off for a little while but then comes back after a short while of playing again.
Hi there @SquishyPalaRogue I have issues with this happening too. There are a couple of open bug reports here for you to take a look at. I have both. You can click Me Too on the first post on the appropriate bug report and add a reply if you'd like to do so, you should be prompted with a bug template to complete with your information.
I keep toggling it on and off in Game Options and sometimes that helps. Sometimes it helps to vote in some green NAPs and to add things like solar panels and loads of plants that boost the footprint, even though the footprint shouldn't matter. But the biggest trigger for me is having fires lit in the home, fireplaces with lit fires along with candles that carry a footprint indicator. Even though they shouldn't be having an effect they do. It's a really frustrating problem. I find that some worlds/neighbourhoods are affected more than others.
I'm hoping someone can help me solve this because I'm completely at a loss! For context I own all packs except Werewolves and only have CC in my game (in CAS, Build/Buy), no gameplay mods. I don't believe this is a bug because I can't accurately recreate it, and apologies in advance for the long post as I don't know how to explain the issue quickly!
I am playing in Del Sol Valley in the Mirage Park area and even though I have the Eco Footprint system turned off, my neighbourhood keeps becoming Industrial (yellow sky, coughing sims etc see pic below). I played with one family on the Inner Circle lot for 50+ sim days without issue. I then played with a single sim on the Upland Place lot in the same save file, also without issue. I moved the family out of Inner Circle, put down a new residential lot on Inner Circle that I'd built elsewhere and moved my single sim into it. Within 1 or 2 sim days the neighbourhood became Industrial (yellow sky, coughing sims etc). I went into Gameplay Options, turned the Eco Footprint On then Off again and this cleared the Industrial issue. However, within another 1 or 2 Sim days it was back. Also, for some reason the mailperson changed from the one in the usual mailperson's uniform to someone wearing the Eco Inspector uniform!
I wondered if maybe the build I had placed there might be the issue so I created a backup save (using 'Save As') and in it I moved out the single Sim, bulldozed the Inner Circle lot completely and placed a different build there, moving in Eliza Pancakes to test with. I then placed the build I'd previously had on Inner Circle onto the Upland Park lot (as I'd had no Industrial issue there yet) and moved in Venessa Jeong to test with. I played with Eliza in Inner Circle and after 4 sim days the neighbourhood became Industrial as before. So I figured that maybe the Inner Circle lot was the issue and switched play to Venessa on Upland Park to test the house that had been previously on Inner Circle. I played for 6 sim days with Venessa on Upload Park and the neighbourhood did not become Industrial at all so this seemed to confirm my assumption that perhaps Inner Circle was corrupted.
To double check whether this was a bug or just an issue in this save, I turned off mods so none of my CC would appear in game and started a clean save without them. I placed a sim in the Inner Circle house that shipped with Get Famous and played for 4 or 5 sim days without an Industrial issue appearing, so I concluded that the Inner Circle lot in my original save was the problem.
Then I went back to my original save, replicated what I did in the backup save in that I bulldozed the house on Inner Circle and left it blank and placed the same house I'd played with Venessa in in my backup save on to Upland Park and moved my single sim back in there thinking I should be able to play with her there without issue, just like with Venessa as I'd done the exact same thing in my backup save. But NO! Within 1 sim day the Industrial issue had appeared on the Upland Park lot (which is definitely not what happened with Venessa 😞)
So now I am at a complete loss. In my backup save the Inner Circle lot seemed to be the issue because it became Industrial there no matter what house or sim I played with. Or is the house the issue because it became Industrial in the original save on both the Inner Circle and Upland Park lots, but then it worked fine in the backup save with Venessa so maybe that's not the issue?! Or is my single sim the issue because both the Inner Circle and Upland Park lots became Industrial after I moved her in, but then in the backup save it became Industrial when I played with Eliza?! Or is it a combination of my single sim living in this particular house no matter what lot it is on?! I just don't get it.
So my questions are:
a) is there any way I can 'clean' the save file so that the Industrial Footprint stops appearing, as I really don't want to start a new save with these sims as I've spent ages on making friends and creating lore with the two households I play with in the save. (I can keep turning the Eco Footprint system on and off again to get rid of the Industrial issue each time it appears in game, but as that is every couple of sim days in this save, that gets annoying very quickly.)
b) Or if I do have to start a new save and move across the sims and builds I'd been playing with into it, is there a way to firstly 'clean' the sims and builds to make sure I'm not bringing the Industrial issue across with them, and secondly to preserve relationships between non-household sims so that I don't have to rebuild them from scratch or cheat them. Also, one of the Sims is currently getting daily royalties for his video productions, presumably there is no way to bring that to a new save either?
Any thoughts as to what the issue is in the original save or how I can prevent this happening with the same sims and builds in a new save would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
