Trying to get a better handle on this thing by looking at different fish in different combinations in inventory. So, I tried out every kind of fish I have in currently in the household (including fish in the aquarium and in fish bowls). Some fish don't have information during fertilization and some do. I can't see any pattern to it.
These fish I tested all displayed the correct information: tilapia, red-tailed black shark, angelfish, koi, discus, kissing gourami, perch, goldfish, and betta.
These fish I tested had no information displayed: red crawdad, mountain lionfish, anglerfish, trout, sturgeon, rainbowfish, treefish, minnow, batfish, catfish, guppy, walleye, salmon, tetra, and bass.
So, it doesn't seem to have anything to do with who caught them, where they were caught, the freshness (it was all over the board with the fish I tested), rarity, or what expansion they came with. It also didn't appear to matter if the fish was fresh, came from the fridge, came from a fishbowl or aquarium, or even if my Sim gave the fish a name. Some fish show info while fertilizing and others do not.

Yes, sadly. I can confirm that it is still happening - just checked today (12/26/15). It seems completely random as to which fish lose their information but it's *always* the same individual fish from inventory (if not the same species). Re-loading the game later does not change which fish are missing info.

Tested it today. Newest patch. All DC except Kids Stuff. The problem persists, unfortunately. I can't find anything about it that is consistent. One Foul Goldfish shows info while another Foul Goldfish caught by the same Sim does not show info. Very strange! I know it's a minor problem - but it still bugs me.
@DarkAmaranth1966 I tested it on two trees out on the lawn as well as plants in the planter box. Which fish are missing information does not change whichever plant I attempt to fertilize.
