Yeah nope same thing happening. I'm pretty computer literate and I have no idea what's going on.
You don't currently have an avatar set in your Origin ID. Can you please set one and see if that helps. This has been an ongoing issue for some Mac users and I wonder if the same fix will help for you. This is how it currently shows:
Ok now it works until I click the show custom content, then it's back to freezing again.

Could you try deleting cache files and repairing game again after doing the avatar thing ? Yeah, no, first of all thanks for all your help, and no it didn't do anything, it's back to freezing immediately when I click on the gallery. It seems like it'll be ok for like a minute after I delete the cache etc, then it'll go back to freezing it seems like after I click show custom content any time after that instant freeze.

This is crasy, I have had to reload sims 4 over five times in the last 5 minutes becasue clicking a like on the gallary freezes the game before I have even loaded into the game. The system sticks on reloading the gallery. And yes I am connected to the gallery. Your new Gallery system is just trash. it was bad before but it is worst now. I can see why gallery content has suffered so badly
This worked for me!
My game was freezing irrecoverably when I tried to open the in-game gallery. I use a mac. I had reinstalled and deleted the entire Electronic Arts folder with no luck. Changing my avatar fixed the issue, thank you!
