[OPEN] [GTW] Police NPC Officers Appearing As Regular Sims

NPC police officers show up as regular Sims when I send my Sim on patrol or when I issue an APB.  When I go back to the police station, they are back there in their uniforms.

  • Seems they kind of have a double role. There's random Sims at the scenes and Officers are probably not excluded from the pool of Sims to choose from.

I don't think it's game breaking either unless the NPC is actually the suspect.

I'll add it to the list if you insist but I don't know if this would get a high priority in fixing.

It could be related to the issue of suspects not showing up at the police station.  If I issue an APB and the suspect matches the description of one of the police Sims, my Sim is able to arrest them.  When I get to the station, they are in their police role rather than as a suspect.  I didn't add it to that thread because I am not sure if the issue is exactly the same.  There is no way for my Sim to interrogate them.

That issue already has a thread but the description wasn't that the suspect was the one they arrested but another one.

So the police officers are your suspects ?

The way it works is that you get a set of clues to who the suspect is and you can arrest anyone who fits the clues for interrogation.  There can be multiple people who fit the clues.  Sometimes, the game will load a Sim as both roles as the police officer and a possible suspect.  This creates a conflict of interest in the game and this conflict of interest doesn't allow the player to complete a work task.

I have had it in my game where I arrest someone and the suspect appears at the police station in their police uniform and I don't have the option to interrogate them.  I didn't want to add this to the other thread because I was unsure if this is caused by a separate issue from what is going on in the other thread.  I was able to possible find the issue to the suspect not appearing at the police station because I noticed it in my game.  Then I noticed that the suspect was working at the police station when I returned and there was no possible way for me to interrogate them.

I'm linking the other thread here. http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/OPEN-GTW-Detective-Suspect-is-not-at-police-station-to/td-p/4456847

I can't tell what the original cause for the other persons issue is but there's definitly two issues around as it can also happen that the suspect is simply not appearing. ..

I see it was you though that reported the police officier issue already.

I tried a game but I thinkt hat was someone at the officials

I've added for now but I'm still unsure to what extent it's related to the other issue.

Okay, heres how it began. My detective sim was working on a case and couldnt find the suspect. After a day or two an npc showed up that perfectly fit all 6 clues, went to arrest her and she was innocent. Asked around and a sim pointed at a ghost. Arrested the ghost and she didnt show up at the station. Ran out of time, picked it up the next day. The next day i couldnt put out an apb, but the board let me go to crime scene, so i did that. Took a report from a witness sim i had never seen before, and got a notification that one of my played sims gave me information. Back to police station and now i could put out an apb. That took me to the nightclub in Willow Creek. I saved there so i could reload if i couldnt complete it. Didnt find suspect, reloaded, and there was that sim that matched the clues from the day before. Again she was innocent. Asking around again and a sim pointed at my sims mother, who is in my original household that is still marked as played. This is now the second time my sim has arrested his own mother, both times the clues were wrong and I only got her because npc's pointed her out. Back to the station, interrogate, get confession, lock her up. I get my promotion and go home for the day. In the morning i decided to send the detective to work by himself and play his little brother back in my original household. As the lot loads up i notice the mom isnt home, it says she is at the police station. I switch control and there she is, locked in a cell in an orange jumpsuit. I cant interact with the bars, and if i call over one of the officers they walk outside and stand on the other side of the wall and i cant talk to them. Is there any way to get released?

    That's kinda funny lol

My detective never trusts any of the clues, because they are always wrong. He's arrested my playable sims before, but they've never been trapped in the jail cell. Usually they just go home the next day.

Try playing your other sims at home for a while and see if the prisoner goes home on their own, or from the neighbourhood screen, click any community venue instead of a household and choose the Visit button. It will pop up a list of sims to choose from - try the imprisoned sim to send them to a community lot.

Last time I arrested her she was gone the next day, it might be because I sent him to work alone so the game didn't trigger a reset for the station lot. Inside the cell it won't let me bring other Sims in my household to the lot, and I can't tell her to go home cause the cell won't open. I will try switching to another sim and see if I can bring her to them.

UPDATE: So its easy to get out, switch to another household member and bring trapped sim there, if it is the only sim in the household,  just hit m and travel somewhere. One cool thing is you get to keep the orange jumpsuit on till you change outfits. Now, since my incarcerated sim was a vampire, i decided to travel as bat over to the officers and use the burst of anger power. Now theres about six dead cops and i stole the chiefs computer because kleptomaniac. Might not be a good idea to arrest a vampire
