Product: The Sims 4 Platform: PS4 Which language are you playing the game in?English How often does the bug occur?Every time (100%) What is your current game version number? 1.81 What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything except Horse Ranch Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have a sim water any plant, it will revert to a dirt pile upon completing the watering task. What do you expect to see? The gardening actually being fully fixed as promised with this latest patch. Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used. Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes Please describe the patch or change you made. Latest patch did not in fact fix gardening, just messed it up in a new way. Again.
I'm not surprised the patch didn't actually fix the gardening, just disappointed. I've been waiting years for a fix, guess I'll have to wait longer. This happens on new and old saves.
Edit: I can now confirm that the plants are also still randomly reverting to dirt piles. Had three revert in the past few minutes without any sim tending them. So not only was the issue not fixed, it was yet again broken in a new way. Fabulous.

What happens when the bug occurs?Plants reset, but do not visibly revert to dirt piles. What do you expect to see?Plants to not reset Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them. Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system?Neutral/Not Sure
This has changed slightly since the new patch, but the main issue has been around for quite a while. It does not occur every Sim day, but it happens often enough to be considered "frequent." The larger the garden, the more likely the issue will occur.
Improvements in this patch:
Fewer plants reset at a time (used to be all or nearly all mature plants would reset at once, now it just seems to be a few at a time)
Prior to the patch, reloading the lot would make the reset visible (plants turned into dirt piles). Now it actually seems to reset plants to their proper state instead.
For these screenshots and description, I removed my mods and my localthumbcache file and started a new save with a fresh Sim. I started the save in the Spring and moved the Sim into one of the starter lots in Willow Creek and planted a bunch of plants from some starter packs, then on day 2 grabbed a bunch of wild plants from the neighborhood and planted those too. In this test save I was planting directly into the ground, but in my current (modded) play save, it is occurring in both vertical and ground planters as well. (I have not played with the CoL dirt patches in either save.)
First morning after planting I encountered the issue, but reloaded the lot before I'd finished documenting it. Prior to this patch the lot reload would visibly revert the plants, but now it fixes the issue instead, so yay for that.
Second morning after planting, this is my pre-harvest garden. Sorry it's so dark; it was early:
After harvesting the carrots, parsley, and mushrooms had reset. I could tell they were reset because the pie menu was missing the "Research" option:
My taro, bluebell, daisy, and strawberry plants were fine, and still had the Research option in the menu:
I kept my Sim on the home lot the rest of the day. The next morning, here's the garden (the new mound is spinach. It's out of season, so it's ok that it's a dirt pile):
The carrots, parsley, and mushrooms are missing their harvestables, but everything else is fine. They're still missing "Research" from the pie menu:
After reloading the lot (went into CAS and back out), "Research" is available in the menu again, but still no harvestables:
The fact that reloading the lot fixes the issue instead of just making it visually apparent really is a huge improvement, since previously fixing the plants required the "Set gardening state" cheat on each individual plant, but if your Sim is a real homebody and never goes anywhere, you still have to click on each one to see if it's reset, or just make a habit of loading CAS once a day. The only way the reset is obvious is if the plants are in a vertical planter: in that case, when the issue occurs, the plant suddenly appears like it would in the ground instead of how it normally looks in the vertical planter.
@Uigenna Hello! I did some testing after updating my PS4 game to the 1.81 version. My plants did not revert to dirt piles after tending / watering or after harvesting the next morning. I also had my sim travel to a gym and back with no dirt piles. My sim (level 10 Gardening) had all options available. I think it's worth noting that I currently only have the base game and the Modern Luxe Kit installed. So perhaps the issues are caused by something in another pack or kit? My guess would be Seasons. I have that pack on PC and I previously had plants reverting to dirt pile almost every time the seasons changed. Maybe the team could test BG with individual packs / kits to see if that's where the problem lies?
Posts with inconclusive reason will be moved here.
If you see dirt piles, it's VERY important that you post with the information asked in the above thread and not just click me too unless you are sure what your cause is then please click me too on the thread of your issue.

I had just expanded my cover for the plants (they are sheltered under a roof) and about to plant more, when I noticed that all of them started to revert one by one (please see attached the saddest video of all time). So I was just there, on the lot. The plants never were "exposed" to the season during the expansion of the roof cover.
Never used any mods or CC.
I have a bee box next to the plants.
ALL of them reverted.
Always had gardening issues, this is a special case that all of them randomly started to revert one by one randomly during the evening (not even at 5am). A few of them then started to grow right back (but only a few), very weird.
With this save I'm trying to complete all of the collections and have a garden with one of each plant, so you can imagine my sadness when this happened yesterday...
@alpacainspace Do you have a backup from before they started reverting and if so, could you try if the same happens if you don't have a bee box ? Maybe also check if they don't revert if you don't expand the roof. Are they all in season ?
What happens if you reload the game, do they revert back ?
@crinrictYeah I managed to load up a previous save and didn't expand the roof at all and the plants didn't revert. Then next day in game I then expanded it the same way and still nothing happened. I saw what happened for a few in-game days and absolutely nothing happened to the plants this time. The bee box was there the whole time as well. So it seems totally random what happened earlier. The plants in my actual save are now doing just fine.
@alpacainspace Talk of making things easy .. I'll move your posts over to the inconclusive thread for now then. Let me know if it happens again (just repost in this thread)
Mine is a combo. I can split it into two posts if you need me to.
1. We traveled and our outdoor sage bushes and lemon trees reset to dirt piles. Our plants in the greenhouse were fine. Our outdoor money trees were fine.
2. We used Floralalial on our outdoor money trees and they both reset to dirt piles. The plants in the greenhouse were fine, even with the same spell.
Let me grab a test save and see what I can do. I’m trying to remember and think the lemon/sage thing happened more than once, but let me confirm.
[edited to add]
Okay, based on the test save it’s intermittent at best. Er. I grabbed literally the same plants out of my library and tossed them on Oakenstead, although the original issue happened on Hounds Head, and I couldn’t reproduce it in the test save.
Sorry! I know intermittent is THE WORST for debugging! I’ve moved to a new household (rotational player) in the save where it happened before but I guess I could pop in without saving?
[edited again] Of course, when I want it to bug out, it doesn’t! Again, I do know that intermittent is THE WORST.
