[OPEN] Sim keeps putting infant down before putting them in crib

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.62.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get to Work, Get Famous, Island Living, Discover University, Vampires, Realm of Magic, Parenthood, Romantic Garden.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play in a house with chairs in it with one or more infants and queue up interactions with infant.
What happens when the bug occurs? The parent sim picks up the infant, cancels out all queued up interactions, put the infant on the floor and then walks across the house to sit in a chair.
What do you expect to see? I expect that the parent sim will be able to care for the kid without crossing the house after picking the infant up and down.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

every time i go to put the infant in the crib, first the parent puts them on their playmat on the floor. then, they pick them back up and finally put them in the crib. i can see the action queue up, and click to cancel, but they put the infant on the floor anyway. they do this in between actions sometimes, too (like cuddle infant, lay on floor, breastfeed infant). it gets annoying and takes too long sometimes to fulfill the infant's needs because they keep setting them down.

  • I've seen it in my game too but not each time but my guess is it's related to this issue: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Routing-Sit-down-issue-on-several-interactions/td-p/4553170/

I think atm it's probably best to leave them separate so I'm moving this to the bug forum.

Could you please edit your post and add the following info to your post.

  • This bug is insanely frustrating! It happens to me all the time. Couldn’t handle it today so had to put the game down.

Whenever I queue up multiple interactions with a infant (such as feed, bathe and/or cuddle etc) my parent sim does one of the interactions (or just picking it up) then cancels the rest of the queued up interactions. Puts the kid down and then go to the other side of the house to sit down in a chair. Every. Single. Time.

It also happens when only one interaction is picked but not equally as often.

I have tested with disabling and taking out all mods and CC  but this infant thing still happens all the time.

@fenneky I'm merging this with the infant sit down issue although before the actual sitting down didn't happen. Still think it's all the same bug (as explained above)

    Hello All,

If anyone of you are still encountering this on the latest game version (without mods), would you be willing to share your save file(s)?

If so, please send me a private message with a link to the file.

    Instructions here: http://x.ea.com/74420

    Thanks!

I'm still having this issue. It didn't start until my infant learned to sit up. When it wakes up I had a routine of feed, change diaper, bath (if needed), put down on playmat. Then the parent could eat and come back and do tummy time. It worked flawlessly until my infant got the sit up milestone. Now after feeding the parent puts the infant on the floor and the rest of the queue drops. I pick it up again to change diaper and after the diaper change the parent puts it down again, even if I queue something like hug, talk, cuddle after.

It's like once the infant can sit up, somehow "put down" is an included part of every interaction with it. I just want the parents to queue up and fulfill all the infants basic needs before putting it down, *where I tell them* to put it down.

  • I have been having such a nightmare of a time with this! I usually play with mods, so I thought that this issue was mod-related -- but I took all of my mods out AND started a fresh save file, and it's still happening. I guess I'm glad to find out it's not just me... I suppose this means I should probably just stop trying to do the whole infant milestone stuff. Ugh.

FFS, years later and it still happens. These infant/toddler issues make me want to quit the game. I tried to raise a family two years ago and had almost these same issues. I quit with the families and started playing no-kid couples and single sims. I falsely thought that maybe they fixed some issues, so I tried a couple of days ago to raise a family. The issues are still here and some are worse. Almost every care I task my sim parents with ends up a cycle of putting down the kid even when they aren't holding it.Then they'll ignore tasks because some autonomous action from a different sim interrupts the task I gave. The "check infant" bug is still around too. I even tried mods to see if it would help and nothing works.

It's really frustrating to deal with this for years on end. The hate for EA is real.

Can relate to that it’s infuriating sometimes . The infant goes onto most insane surfaces before will go to the crib . Or it will go to the crib than parents decide that floor is a better option , all on their own 🙃. Those kids are traveling all over the house surfaces to end up on the floor anyway …

also feeding the child is a struggle , they just cancel the action sometimes without any reason , and the child goes hungry for hours !
there is no action queued into the child queue (like cry or fuss ) they just stand there have a conversation about food and look at each other .

there is no other sim in the way because they are home alone  with infant /toddler .

seriously the parents interacting with a kid can bring so many frustrations …
