Yes. Because my existing family was before cats and dogs. So I went into CAS, loaded in a sim I had created a while ago by replacing the randomly generated sim you get. Then I made the pets I wanted for the existing family, which was 2 cats and 4 dogs. Then I placed the sim that had all the pets on, in a random lot and using the map, transferred the pets into my existing family. Once I started playing that family, whenever the pets would do something 'bad' the option to lecture or scold them wouldn't come up. I thought maybe it was because my sims didn't have a high enough relationship with them because they didn't start off knowing them, so I had to do the introductions for all of them but once I got them up to friends, I still can't tell lector them.
I did the same thing with another family and I can't lecture them either so it seems like a consistent bug on my end lol?

Could you start a fresh save for testing purposes to see if it works there. There seem to be a lot of issues with existing saves.
- Anonymous8 years ago
Tested it. Works fine under a new save. Does that mean there is not saving my old world lol?

I don't know but there's seems a lot of issues with olds saves.
Would you be willing to share yours ?
If so, please upload the saves somewhere and PM me the link

I don't mind, I'm just not sure how. Do I just upload the whole save folder? and can you recommend a place to upload it, to link it please?

Best would be either google drive, oneDrive or dropbox.
If you know which save, you can just upload that, if not, zip the whole folder

I don't know why? I've never used google drive before. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KoHINIhWS7nVq-U0W9sZNnJQxLVN4tp0/view?usp=sharing Hope this works! sorry.

This worked. I'll get back to you.

Did you test the same dogs in a new save ? Maybe it has something to do with their traits ? I can also not train them which worked fine when I adopted a third dog (tried the two women with the two dogs.
- I am having the same problem in a new save. Can’t train or scold a pet if the sim wasn’t a part of the household when the pet was added. Also can’t add them as a companion. This is true for my 2 dogs and a cat, and they don’t share a common trait.
I can send you my save later tonight after work if that would help.
ETA: if they adopt a 4th pet, it’s fine, both sims can train/scold that pet. But they can’t train/scold pets that were adopted by the other sim when the households were separate, if that makes sense. - crinrict8 years agoHero+
Yes, that's what I'm seeing on @OhnoArno save as well. Guess it's an issue with getting someone else's pets in an irregular way.
There were no mods involved adding the pet to the household, right ?
- @crinrict No mods or CC in my game at all. I don’t think there’s anything abnormal about how I merged the households either. I just had one sim ask the other to move in. The other accepted the offer and brought their pets with them.

Great. Thanks
And the original owner doesn't have the options either ?
- The original owner can still train/scold.
So in my case, I had a female sim that I created with 2 dogs. Then I created a male sim, and he adopted a cat via the computer. After they moved in together, the dogs can still only be trained/scolded by the female sim. And the cat can only be scolded by the male sim.
Relationship doesn’t seem to matter either, because the dogs both have a very high relationship with the male sim. - crinrict8 years agoHero+
I'm guessing it's an 'ownership' issue. The dog isn't recognized as being owned by the new Sims.
- That’s what I think too. If the sim wasn’t a part of the household when the pet was added, he/she is not recognized as the owner. I do hope they fix this, because it’s a bit annoying. Not game-breaking by any stretch, but still inconvenient.

Well, we kinda figured out why, so that's a good start, right ?
- Definitely! 🙂

I have had this happen too. I moved Mayor Whiskers into my sim's house through household management and she was not able to lecture or correct his bad behavior but she was able to correct and lecture her own cat, plus a stray cat I shift clicked to add to the household. It was Mayor Whiskers I couldn't because I moved him in through the household management. Had it happen with other households after that too and only with pets moved to the household that way. I am able to lecture them if they were originally part of the household or adopted/shift clicked into the house.
Same problem here. I can train my (in CAS modified) dog but I cannot lecture the dog. My current play is placed in Windenburg and is an old save.
Never recognized this problem before the latest patch in December 2018.- 83bienchen7 years agoSeasoned Ace
There is a mod that helps a little with the issue of not being able to lecture adopted pets at Deichschaf (scoldpetfix)
EDIT: removed mod links. Please be aware that linking mods at AHQ is not allowed. Only name them
I still have this issue too...its bothering me a lot...none of my adult sim can lecture my pets from my rosebud challenge the cats are destroying my stuff...so...spending money on the new furniture is the only option if I dont want to give them away ☹️
