Re: [ARCHIVED] Child/Toddler Hair Color Changing

@jennemm75 Can you share a save with me where this is still happening with children? That should've been fixed with a patch that was released last September.

In case you happen to have a really old save file, that pre-dates the September fix, the engineer who fixed this issue mentioned: "Exisiting sims with this issue will still see hair color change a few times while the system settles, but once the sim gets into a good state, the hair color should stop changing. For example, manually changing the hair color should put the sim back into a good state."

So if manually changing the hair color doesn't fix the issue for you, I'd love if you could share your save file with me, thanks much! 🙂

It isn't children it is a toddler, and he was just born with in this last couple of days. I will look for the save file, and repost.

    Hi @jennemm75

you said above it's also children. Toddlers have their own thread so if you're only seeing it on toddlers, I'll move your post to the toddler thread.

    Just let me know

  • I dont have kids in my current save, so let me do some trouble shooting, and see.

  • I am experiencing this issue for the first time now (this save was created after the most recent patch, I believe). So I'm posting in all these threads hoping 1) to find help and 2) that my save file will be useful.

I've had three other children in this save with no problems. The third one's hair changes when I exit CAS, when I switch between outfit types, when I re-enter CAS... I'm trying to make the hair black, but it is changing to blonde or ginger.  This happened with both a custom hair (from a reputable creator) and with a "Kid's Room Stuff" hair (the side braid).

I don't know if it will be helpful, but I've uploaded my save file here (compressed .zip):

Have you seen this occurring with no mods or CC installed at all? Like, your Mods folder is completely empty? Was it occurring with a specific hair style? Were there any specific events that occurred leading up to seeing this issue? Have you seen this occur on a new save, or only on this specific older save? Thanks much!

I've had this issue occurring with the vampire pack child hair and the child vintage wavy hair that came in the vintage luxury pack. I do have some CC hairs installed but am not sure why that would make the hair change color randomly like that. As soon as I exit CAS the hair will glitch and switch to red or blonde from the brown.

Please zip up this folder: documents\electronicarts\thesims4\saves and drop the file to this Mediafire-Link to upload.

Please make sure to name the zip file with your user name and a tag-word of the issue.

I have had this exact problem for months, with toddlers too. hair changing and eyes changing. always. it doesn't matter what save it's on, it doesn't matter if there are mods/CC or not, it always. changes. and it's always to red or blonde, usually blonde. so many people have been having this problem for so long, I feel as though it should've been fixed by now. if everything works for adults, everything should work for kids and toddlers.

    Hi all.

We are still investigating this issue, Is anyone happy to provide the entire EA folder and Dxdiag on this one? Does anyone has a save which has no Mods or CC where this is occurring?  If so please upload the files as per the post here

The bug (with both children and toddlers) occurs mostly with CC recolours. Will an attempt to fix that be made? I know the usual stance is that anything CC related is unsupported, but in this case it's not the CC itself that is causing the issue, as this isn't something that affects teens and older.

Pretty sure CC won't be fixed.

Did you check with the creators if they maybe updated their cc ?

I haven't played the sims 4 in awhile and when I began playing again I came across this bug. At first I thought it was the mods or the cc so I played the game without it but the hair color glitch is still there. The toddler and the children's hair color does not stay changed to the players' chosen color but is randomly decided by the game this bug is apparent in a game without the mods or any of the cc. Therefore it is not the cc or the mod's problem it is the game itself. It is extremely annoying and frustrating and dampens the gameplay.

@blueskye13 Do you have a save where this is occurring without CC or Mods? Are you happy to provide your EA folder and Dxdiag? If so please upload the files as per the post here and advise of which save the error occurs.
