Thank you. I read through the old threads and saw someone else also had the trash plant in front of the doors. I have that also and wonder if the trash plant is what is blocking the way? @crinrict

@crinrict thanks for adding me to the existing thread. After reading through it I confirmed my suspicion that the trash plant in front of the doors was what was blocking the way. I resolved this by entering in the cheat code testingcheatsenabled true by clicking shift ctrl and c..
This allows you to teleport. Then just shift click on the ground to where you want to transport to. I teleported to outside of the building and took cuttings from the plant 3 times before it gave the option to dispose of dead plant. Then I put the trash in my inventory to move it out of the way.
Now they can go down the elevator and the issue is fixed!
