Re: [ARCHIVED] Teen to YA aging doesn't always give option to add third trait

@3ukkieJust save your game, make your sim teen again with a cheat, then check if sim's character values are enough, save your game (in another save slot) and make this sim grow up again. if the problem is there, then you'll have the save needed.

@crinrictAlso, I tried MCCC mod in my game - when growing up, this mod indicated some error occurs. Something about "dictionary values changed" or something like that. I've googled, it must be coding-related.

With the alien-vampire hybrid ? That's bound to have errors as those aren't supposed to exist. That you can make them without cheats/mods is the bug part there.

@crinrictThe error could still be the same.

The "dictionary" error is not even limited to the "Sims 4" game.

Not saying it's not but I don't have any issues personally so I can't duplicate it but I haven't tried with Vampires yet.

  • Hi,

@rostsit wrote to me: “Just save your game, make your sim teen again with a cheat, then check if sim's character values are enough, save your game (in another save slot) and make this sim grow up again. If the problem is there, then you'll have the save needed.”

So, I’ve tested my sim with those cheat codes. At the second chance, she could normally grow up with the trait selection screen, getting the third trait and three of Character values, which she’d missed at the first time.

However, I have to add a note: When I started this test, the sim had already died once. Before the death, she had still only two traits as an elder. Then, at the beginning of test, I found her ghost having full three traits – but still no trait of Character values. This automatically selected third trait could affect on the conditions for repeatability. So I’m not sure this result is fair or not.

I’ve also made a new teen sim in CAS with the same aspiration, Party Animal, and the same two traits, Hot Headed and Music Lover, for another test, but no problem could be seen. Moreover, my troubled sim has 10 siblings in total, but none of them had this glitch, except for herself. So I think the cause is more internal and invisible data of specific sim or just environmental conditions at the time of growing up.

Speaking of this sim’s data, I remembered that I experienced a huge lag, back when she grew up into a toddler. The face icon indicated she became a toddler, but she literally vanished with her bassinet while all the other sims were fine. Unlike the others’ growth, this time I could save the game, switch to the Build mode and another lot, so I felt this was buggy. After several minutes of waiting and confusing, the trait selection screen suddenly popped up and she and the bassinet came back. This might be just a temporary lag, but also the suggestion of partial data corruption.

  • Sorry for continuous posting, but I got another teen sim who couldn’t obtain the third trait and traits of Character values.

    My save file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!As8z_Eg20y2XhNpza35-9MiY7CgV_A

    Please note that:

    1. I usually play Japanese version, so proper names such as sims’ names and lots’ names will be shown in its characters.
    2. The teen sim is at Affluista Mansion in Oasis Springs, where Landgraab family originally lived.
    3. The sim is only teen in the household, who has red hair.
    4. He will become older within a few sim hours.
    5. He is a vampire, but it’s not genetic - his great-grandmother was a vampire, though. Caleb Vatore turned him into a vampire when he grew up into a teen.
    6. I replayed it several times to see if his action, location or club gathering affects the result, but he can’t get any traits whatever he does or wherever he travels as far as I tested.
  • Sorry for my continuous posting, again. I just found that a LastException file was generated each time my teen failed to get the trait selection screen. I attached the file.

I noticed the phrase “relationship tracker” in it. If the game program traces the sim’s relationship at the birthday event, it would be the birthday gift feature from Parenthood GP. So I disabled the pack by entering the code “-disablepacks:GP05” in Orign’s game properties screen. Then, the teen could successfully grew up with trait selection screen.

So, my guess is that the cause is probably some features of Parenthood GP.

@3ukkie from your save we can see a lot of missing objects which suggest Custom Content. Do you know what custom content you used?

    Hello, @IrishMadCat_EA.

No, I've never installed any CCs. I don't even know how I can do. There must be a lot of hidden objects placed with the cheats, though.

I reset my The Sims 4 folder, switched the language to English, downloaded my save file again, reloaded it with the renewed game folder and it looked all fine on my PC. I didn't get any error messages regarding missing contents. I don't have any idea where the difference came from.

@3ukkie Thanks for double checking and sorry for any confusion caused.

We will go back and look at the save again.
