Re: Can’t lock doors on community lots (unowned)

@lucombre Do you own the lot ? I think you can only do it on businesses you own.

@crinrict What about in bars? Is it just not possible? I really thought I used to be able to do this…

@lucombre I don't think so. I'm not 100% positive though. I know there's options at the high school although no one owns that but I guess that was more to make some rooms staff only.

It's def what I see now though. You can lock doors on your owned commnuity lots but not otherwise.

@crinrict Ok, thanks for your reply and for confirming it’s not just my game. I guess it’s no longer an option.

I actually just remembered that I used to have a “hotel” build in my game that was technically a nightclub, and I would lock the doors of the “hotel rooms” for everyone but certain people. So it definitely used to be possible (this was at least several months ago), though I no longer have this lot so I can’t test if it still works there.

The question is, is this a bug or an intended change?

I just want to point out that this is more about un-ownable community lots like bars, lounges, libraries, cafes.

After watching yesterday’s livestream, I actually wonder if this is related to the upcoming update since they are adding options to the door locking menu. I hope it gets fixed then since this issue is preventing me from using some builds the way I had in mind!

  • I really want to be able to lock gates and doors on community lots now, even though I never really cared before, because after growing together I'm more likely to bring my infants and toddlers out into the world with me.

I agree - there are so many situations where locking doors is necessary either to make the lot work as desired or just for convenience. I don’t understand why they disabled it, especially with the infants coming out.

So this is still an issue. You still can’t lock doors for “everyone but employees” like you used to be able to (approx 2 years ago). I realize that this isn’t a priority to fix, but I’m also having the issue that if I lock a door for “everyone but X club” on a community lot (currently the only option) there’s no option to unlock the door! The only solution is to replace the door in build mode.

It’s just strange - why take away all the options to lock doors, but still allow the club option without any way to undo it?

I don't recall ever seeing door lock options on public lots unless it was for a club or unless my sims owned the lot (like retail).

Could it be that the hotel lot you remember was a residential lot owned by the "innkeeper" or something like that?

Or perhaps did you use the club system to define who was a guest? (that would be a really clever use of the club system by the way)

@mightyspritesims No, definitely not, I’m 100% sure it was a nightclub (even had a dj and bartender automatically showing up). Since it seems like nobody else ever experienced this, I’m starting to wonder if it was possible only with a certain pack combination, since I’ve gradually gotten more packs since then. Regardless… the current problem is that it’s possible on several types of un-ownable community lots to lock doors for everyone but a particular club, but there’s no way to undo it.
