I did some looking into the Python code for careers, as that changed during the latest update to fix the prep task issue. What I found:

In career_base.py, the career_start() function used to call a function _refresh_gig_on_load() if the game was going through a loading screen. _refresh_gig_on_load() called another function, _set_up_gig_timers(). This is the critical bit. _refresh_gig_on_load() was removed in the latest patch, and _set_up_gig_timers() was no longer called during loading screens. Adding _set_up_gig_timers() where _refresh_gig_on_load() used to be called fixes the bug.

If you want to play the acting career, I have uploaded my fix on Tumblr. Look up thefreshsims on Tumblr, and click the Mods link up top. If you have trouble finding it, you can also use the search function on my blog and look for "Acting Career Gig Fix".

Can we get a hotfix, EA?

I think if we report this to a manager or something, they'll possibly fix it within the next patch. Although, I'm not really sure, and there's also no guarantee they'll fix it. I guess we just have to wait and find out.

The best solution for now would be to not travel until your gig begins. You can still travel before the audition because it works just fine, but after the audition, and before the gig starts do not travel AT ALL. That will cause the Sim not to go to their gigs. If the Sim still is not able to go to their gigs, quit that current one, and select another one, but you have to stay home before the gig starts. That's the most effective way there is to it for now.

@lizbug56This whole bug has been a turn off from playing the sims for me. I had a family multiple generations in but I don’t want to continue playing with them if it’s just gonna waste the actress’s career away. It’s so sad that you can’t leave your lot for days just so you can go to work... I guess I’m just gonna have to find other things to do to fill my time😕

OK, so I've tested this lovely code of yours by having Flargen join the acting career (I have CC in this save, and activated all of my mods, including MCCC, which always bugs out like crazy on me), and after she passed her audition, I gave her a new wardrobe via CAS and then took her to Orchid-a-go-go for her to make use of the mirror to practice skills, and generally ignored the workaround rules. THE DIALOG WINDOW POPPED UP AND SHE'S NOW AT HER GIG!!

Thank you so much for creating this fix, @Bra1nBlast3d! It may be worth moving MCCC (yet again) just so I can keep the script mods enabled for this purpose!

It might cause an issue with the fix EA applied to not have the prep tasks reset upon travelling.

Python is out of my waters, so maybe check if those bits of code are looking for a new line of code to call that simply isn't there, having slipped through somehow?

Took a look at the code re: the error that was reported. It looks like a bug in the part of the code I haven't touched - so another EA issue. If you run into the error, please let me know what caused it and I can give fixing it a go.

The error didn't appear to effect the gameplay, just generated an error. I traveled before and after the audition, after completing the prep tasks. Prep tasks didn't get reset and even though I traveled, it still allowed me to go to the gig just fine.

So I just got the Get Famous pack like not even a week ago I don't think, so I believe it was after the last patch update so my sim going to her gig has not worked for me since I bought the pack. Pretty disappointing I can't even play my new pack really. Are they working on fixing this bug?
