Still happens with University pack
- crinrict6 years agoHero+
- @crinrict Happend just with the harvestable things in inventory with better then normal quality. Normal quality flowers and plants stayed. Worse is the fast decrease of needs of all sims, especially toddlers. I see there is so many mistakes after november patch, I hope they will make some fix soon...
I had a sim move home after university and all the fruits in his inventory disappeared, and I can't move anything out of his ICYA chest, except things where you can select "Place in World."
- @crinrict Yeah still happening after installing University Pack. I have repaired it several times.
Who has tried uninstalling everything - wiping the registry and then reinstalling everything and pasting in your save files? I've been having the same problem with harvestables, but I just opened my bookcase and it is empty. All my ROM tomes that I collected are gone. This may be a problem for anything that holds inventory of some kind?
- @liliflur I don't have ROM tomes disappearing problem. However, I keep my tomes in a chest.
Sorry I wasn't more clear, all my books from the bookcase were gone, it's just the ROM tomes missing I'm ticked off about. There isn't anything to suggest that ROM has anything to do with the bug. Thank-you for the info though, I'll try keeping the replacements in a chest until EA fixes this.

@luciahutan310Thanks
Guess I'm just being lucky then.
Mine is an old save too.I hadn't seen this problem until today (Nov. 23). Not sure what triggered it. One of the Sims is in the Conservationist career the other is a Spellcaster. They have a large garden with all the game plants. All the plants are better than "Normal."
Adding: I went back to the previous household and checked their produce. It was "Normal." They buy their produce from this household's retail shop or the CL vendors.
Most impacted by this bug is any activity that requires produce. Scientist, herbalist or spellcaster potions. As noted, except for the OR plants, most ingredients can be bought through seed packets, vendors or the "gift" menu options.
@crinrict you can download my lot Del Sol Valley Farm, I have it saved as a residence and as a community lot. Most of the harvestables are Excellent and above with a few that are nice, none are normal. Have your sim harvest the excellent and above and leave the lot. Then have them travel home, go to other lots and then back home and see what happens.
I rebuilt my game by renaming my Sims 4 folder Old and the game rebuilt it, and then I opened a new game with a new sim for just creating this garden lot. I then saved the lot Del Sol Valley Farm as a park
Most of the harvestables are excellent, perfect and magnificent with some nice ones too, and a few normal. I opened another save, a new save I created with a new family I created for building lots.
The Wife harvested in Del Sol Valley and went home to Sulani. She did have mostly nice and 1 or two excellent in each type of fruit she harvested. So I sent her husband to harvest only excellent or perfect fruit, herbs, alien, vegetables, and flowers. When he returned home they were in his inventory. I sent him fishing in Willow Creek and most of the harvestables disappeared. When he went home to Sulani, all of the harvestables disappeared, the fish were still in his inventory. His wife who stayed home lost most of her harvestables too.
I recorded a video with two different saved games. I have the Sims travel from and to various lots and items disappear from their inventory. Video Link: https://youtu.be/5ZjDjY4tcvk
What I did not mention in the video is that even when a type of harvestables remain in the inventory, the number of items changes. For instance my Sim had 19 cherries in her inventory. Once her husband returned from visiting two lots she had 2 cherries left.
I hope this is enough for the Sim Gurus to test.

Why isn't this solved yet? /sob I'm still waiting to be able to play university. I'm hoping they'll actually fix it soon but I kinda doubt it, knowing how EA is. So frustrating, though! /bangs head against wall
@storywriter27 I feel your pain, except for the headbanging against the wall. I like my brain intact, for the most part. EA is interfering with my sims college education, and robbing me of the ability to make garden bots that can tend my harvestable so they can disappear when I collect them, lmao... Ughhh☹️
I’m not sure if this started happening because of the patch earlier this month, or after I got university, because they were both around the same time. I’ve been playing my current save for 9 generations, and have passed down produce and other harvestables for at least 5-6 generations, so I had quite the stash, and now it’s almost all gone. It’s really upsetting because it lost my sim a lot of time and money. Now it seems they disappear every time I travel to a new lot, or start the game. It’s incredibly frustrating.
@jesslikessims I am so sorry. I have a family where the parents are both in each side of the gardening career and their garden takes up 1/4th of a 60x60 lot. I lost a lot of saved produce and flowers myself, but I can't image 5 generations of it. The bad news is all of that is probably gone for good. The good news is EA announced in this thread they are aware of the problem and are fixing it. I'm not sure how long that will take, but at least we all know we were heard.
As for if it was University or not, sadly, no. I thought the same, but someone on here doesn't even own University and has this bug. It seems to have come along with one of the many patches. An unpleasant, if you want to bother, work around seems to be putting it in your family inventory. Another, rather unhappy solution, is only working with normal quality produce if you want to add an extra bit to your garden for now. You can use your perfect things while gaming and then the normal will stick around whether you save and exit or leave your lot or not. I'd sell the perfects if you don't put them in your family inventory before leaving the game. At least you get the money that way.
If you are feeling impatient, I grew one of every normal plant and uploaded them in their ready to harvest state. Just look up PriestessAvenara or the plant you want. My normal ones should be easy to find. I even grouped plants (fruits and veggies), trees (except plasma, that one is a stand alone only), herbs, magical plants, and vampire plants if you are feeling extra lazy about downloading one of each of a specific type.
I was extremely frustrated and noticed no one had any normal plants up so I decided I'd do it for the community. Right now those seem to be our only options, but happy gaming and gardening anyway. You could always do what I did because I felt like I was ruining my own legacy game and make a temporary vampire challenge game where you can only feed on people, no plasma fruit or plasma bags. Play it how you want, evil or good, compel or ask or even frenzy. The only strict rules are getting rid of plasma bags, not making any, not growing or eating any plasma fruit, and enjoying the sims for the tasties they are. *laughs* It's not AS fun as gardening and our long time games, but it's entertaining tying to convince people I've just met to let me feed on them. 😉
