The only work around I've found for this si to shift-click my sim and use "send to rabbithole (debug)". If you just reset the sim, best that happens is that the "Reveal to Client" task is checked off but the event still won't end. Rabbithole sends your sim offscreen and reloads you at their house. Then you can cancel the rabbithole and keep playing, but you still won't get any reputation or payment for services. It's extremely annoying!
