Wanted to weigh in on this issue also. Since it is also happening to me.

    Product: The Sims 4

    Platform: PC

Which language are you playing the game in: English

How often does the bug occur: Whenever the cat needs to go to the bathroom.

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed: GTW GT, CL, CD, OR, SD, DO, PPSP, SSP, BYSP, BNSP, FSP

Issue: Cat will not use the litter box even though she is very uncomfortable and asking for a "nice clean litter box". She will not use the litter box, even if surrounded by litter boxes of every variety that can be purchased.

Steps I took for Issue to occur: Feeding the cat was enough to cause this issue. When it came time for the cat to go - it was all a big "no go". I adopted the seal-point female kitten, "Nova", so I don't think it is the breed, unless there are several breeds that are affected. I wonder if it is trait-related. The only two traits that I am aware of the cat having are "glutton" and "aloof." I attempted to delete and then buy new litter boxes. That didn't work - even if I placed the litter box right in front of her. Re-starting the game made no difference.

Where does the bug occur: I have attempted to place the litter boxes in the bathroom kitchen, living room, hallway, and porch. It doesn't work anywhere.

Mods/CC: 5 articles of clothing CC. Problem occurs with and without CC active.

Occurring since: Since I purchased the expansion. I have not seen any pets anywhere else in the game yet. I have had the cat for less than one Sim day. The cat cannot go to the bathroom so I have stopped playing the game. I am afraid to continue playing the game because I do not want the cat to be taken away because of "neglect" like what could happen in Sims 3. I also do not dare switch households for the same reason.

  • I was experiencing this problem a while ago as well. Had two litter boxes in the house, on the second floor. When the bug started, I would delete the old litter box and buy a new one which seemed to work for a few more bathroom trips the kitties would take, but then the boxes would break again. I thought it had something to do with the litter boxes registering as being dirty even if my sims were cleaning them (because of the prompt after asking the cats "what's wrong") so I bought one of the self cleaning litter boxes and put it in the upstairs bathroom. This seemed to work for a little while until that one broke as well. I finally put a self cleaning one downstairs in an easily accessible area and that worked for quite a while actually. In fact, I can't remember actually having a problem with that one for several sims weeks until it started to glitch by not removing the dirty texture even though the animation would run. So I then upgraded to the litter box that uses the lasers to clean it and haven't had a problem yet. Also, important to note probably, is that the laser litter box is located downstairs since I wasn't sure if having the litter boxes upstairs had anything to do with the bug (kind of like when toddlers first came out and we couldn't bathe them in bathtubs upstairs.)

But, anyway, for me, the laser cat box seems to be the only one that doesn't have a problem so far and I've been playing with it for several plays now.

So also been having the same issue, but just purchased our cat the cheapest litter tray and put it outside. She used it there…
