Re: [ARCHIVED] Sims stops writing books
I have a sim who's randomly stopped writing a book twice now, no writer's block or creative fog or anything, the action just cancels about ¾ through and when I try to resume it cancels immediately. I tried the suggested workaround of queuing another action and the sim just went to the other action. The only way to get it fixed I've found so far is to exit to main menu, and when the game re-loads she'll resume the book just fine but of course its progress has been reset.
I have 4 other households in this save, all of them have been writing books (some more than others, this sim is neither the most nor least prolific writer of the bunch), and this is the only one that's had an issue. The two main differences I can see are 1) this sim is an alien, and 2) the lot has the fast internet trait. Next time this happens I can try removing the lot trait I guess, for now her latest halted book is finished and I probably won't be having her write another until her next time around in rotation.
Updated: Moved my alien to another lot and stopped having problems, wrote 3-4 books without an issue. However, I wasn't having the issue every time so it's possible I just didn't play long enough.
Started a new save because I have no attention span and now I'm having the same issue with a different Sim in a different house, no fast internet this time... except both this Sim and the alien were having trouble in the Pebble Burrow lot in Oasis Springs. I doubt it's that simple but it's an odd coincidence for sure if that isn't the cause.
Current plan is to exit to main menu preemptively once per sim day but too soon to tell if that's enough since "my first attempt worked" is hardly conclusive.
Updated x2: That didn't help either, and the second Sim with the issue was still having the problem after moving to another lot. I really can't suss this one out, and I'm starting to think my Sims that weren't having problems were just getting lucky, since this seems to be a random chance that hits maybe 20% of the time for me.
