@EeveeTinn Are the presents in an accessible place for the initiator Sim? Is this happening to only a specific household? Could you possibly try opening up a completely empty lot, placing the presents down and sending your Sims to perform this interaction?
There are few other things you could try if you have testingcheats enabled. You can shift-click on both Sims and use 'Reset Object' to reset their models and clear their queues. You can shift-click on the present pile and reset it too, if I recall correctly. This could help, as it may be that your Sims are getting stuck trying to complete the actions in their queue for some reason, and actions have been known to get stuck in queues or cause Sims to get stuck.
