I've started avoiding getting the Incredibly Friendly trait until my teens have completed this part of the aspiration and I'm still having problems. If my teens do a friendly or cheerful introduction the friendship will jump very high and not count (this is without the trait). I've noticed this since they updated how building friendships work with the infant game update.
One work around is to create a Get Together club with other teens that the teen doesn't know, and then work on building friendships with them as the teen friendships for this goal will count if they start as acquaintances and then become friends. You could probably also try a rude introduction and then rebuild the friendship and/or see if sending the teen to school on their own and using the 'make friends' option works.

I'm having the same issue on the Xbox Console version. I've noticed that it also often won't count even if you actually build the relationship up slowly. Occasionally, when I reload a household, it will temporarily work again, but it seems to be intermittent.

@RedRylan i found that starting with a rude introduction and then working your way up to friends from there worked for me on xbox

I think the counter for the aspiration is very "sensitive", seems like if you befriend a teen that you are related to in any way doesn't count or if the friendship increased through social bunny

This is still an issue, as well as the t-pose challenge. Every time I saw a student posing, I would ask about it, but no other option to join or start my own challenge pops up in the social menu

I’m having this problem on Xbox. I’ve had the trait but it counted 2/10 and stopped there. Also stuck: 2/5 Social Bunny posts.
