Sims changing outfits without command

I have my settings so that they Sims don't act autonomously, but they keep changing outfits without my commanding it.  Even if they are already in "Everyday 1", they will change into "Everyday 2" or something automatically before going to school.  Example 2: Had Sim in "Athletic 1" and commanded her to run on the treadmill and she automatically changed into a different Athletic outfit before getting on the treadmill.  Please advise.

  • That is probably working as intended cause they're just randomizing their close. Don't think that has anything to do with free will.

  • Wait, so there is no way to control what oufits they wear?  That seems a bit odd.  Why pre-plan oufits then if they will just keep switching into the same default one, even after I've changed them into a different oufit of the same style?

  • My Sims keep changing oufits against my command.  They have no autonomy, but if I have someone in "Athletic 1" and command for them to use the treadmill, for example, they will automatically change into "Athletic 3" or something before using the treadmill, rather than staying in Athletic 1. Or, the children will be in "Everyday 2" and will change into "Everyday 4" before going to school.  I don't see the point of pre-planning different oufits if they will just switch into a different one on their own?  Please help.

I don't know how it's supposed to work. Was just a guess.

It's something you need to ask the devs. You can try the gurus on twitter or the Ask a Guru thread on tuesday's and thursday's at the official forum.

@valogirl Merged and moved your report to Bug Reporting.

I might be misunderstanding your issue. First, I doubt free will has anything to do with changing cloth, it's occasion based.

So if your Sims goes to work, they will change into work cloth, if they go to a party, they will change into party cloth and so on. If you give them multiple outfits, they randomly choose which one they want to wear. They might also change what they are wearing after taking a shower if you have multiple clothing.

What they should NOT be doing is randomly changing what they are wearing if there's no occasion that calls for a change. They should also not radomly change into something else (second outfit) on their own (but that has nothing to do with free will being on). So, if they are already in their workout outfit and you make them go work out, they should not change into something else at, since they already are in their workoutfit.

So, if you have an issue where Sims change their cloth without an occasion requesting one, than it's a bug but if you for example have them take a shower, then they randomly choose an outfit and they will also do that if you have them go jogging while they are in their everyday wear.

So, is that what you're saying ? That they change clothing to the second outfit although they are already in the proper one for the interaction you told them to do ?
