Sims not going to work/school

When it's time for work/school, my sims will not go and the only thing that pops up is "Are you sure you want [sim name] to miss/leave school/work? The boss/principal may not like it.". I've tried resetting my sims and closing the game and uninstalling. Please help.

@binugget00Perhaps you should become famous, and the character is stuck in the drama club. If there is a previous save, load it, and the next time a window pops up with options to become more famous or leave everything as it is, choose to become more famous, and while the character is in school, save the game. If he will be listed as if he is at school but he is actually at home, just load the game. When it is time for my sims children to go to school they do not go. I click on the go to school button and they still don't go. This has been happened everyday to all my sims. This has been happening for over a year now. I would really like it if they would go to school again. i have not done anything different. They went to school one day and the next they did not and never did there after.

Some of my sims will not go to school or work. I click the Go To School button and nothing happens. I do not have the high school pack. It is random, some of my sims will go on their own and some will not, no matter how hard I try.

On a new install without mods (never had mods), sims can't go to work.  For the critic career, I get the pop-up to go to work, click to go to work, there's a little sound, then nothing happens.  There is no button in the career tab to make the sim go to work.  The work from home option seems to work fine.  For the chef career, I get the pop-up that work starts in an hour but no option to send the sim.  It's happened with multiple different sims in different apartments (but I've only tried it in apartments).  There aren't any work outfits for the critic (so the "corrupt" work outfit isn't the problem).  Deleting the files and relaunching the game has no effect.  I uninstalled, removed the remaining files, and re-installed to no avail.  It's unplayable as is unless I want to try to manage without my sims actually working.

I have Seasons, City Living (this is my first install with it), Parenthood, Laundry Day (also the first install using it),  and Tiny Living.  It's version 1.93.146.1020.

Does anyone have any other other suggestions that might help?  

@tybbiesniffer The critic career is a work from home career if IIRC.

Did you choose the rabbithole option or does she have tasks to do ?

Have you tested a new save to see if it's related to your save game or a general issue ? Is there maybe a holiday going on ?

I have re-installed it four times now.  I made sure to completely delete the the files manually after the uninstall on the 2nd and subsequent uninstalls.  I uninstalled the Create a Sim demo that was still floating around and manually deleted those files too.  I have tried a new game at least 5 or 6 different times.  I have tried it with sims that were already in the game; I've tried it with different careers and apartments.  I've tried starting the game in different seasons and no events/holidays were going on at the time in any of the games.  I've tried fulfilling the goals for promotion before starting work; I've tried not fulfilling the goals for promotion.  I've updated my video card driver (out of sheer desperation).  Since the game will only play through Steam (Origin says it's unavailable), I tried uninstalling Origin and running it...which just failed because it does launch Origin anyway.  So I re-installed Origin.  It worked fine on previous installs before I had City Living and Laundry whatever.  

No matter what I do the sims won't go to work and the button to send them does not appear.  Maybe a new expansion/pack would fix the problem but I'm loathe to throw more money at the problem when I already won't be able to refund the last two I bought.  I'd be more than willing to try any suggestions at this point.  Frankly, it can't get more broke.

ETA:  So I did try the Get To Work expansion figuring since it affected careers to a degree maybe it would fix whatever is broken.  It did not; the same problem is still occurring.  It is using the EA app now instead of Origin...not sure if that's good or not.  Fortunately, I tested it quickly enough to request a refund.
