I think this is not a bug. Sims always choose a topic, self with autonomy off. If you don’t fast enough the game will choose a talk topic. Sometimes the game will ignore your selected topic, which is annoying, but I think it is because you direct them a topic and at the same time the game choose another topic and in sims 4 the game will always win, not the player because we don’t have a true autonomy off mode in sims 4. // <- because of this we still get a lot of force actions as reaction to deco, reaction to swearing or running inside from a thunderstorm with autonomy off.

@snowbelle789 That's interesting because I just don't remember a time where sims wouldn't autonomously do things in a conversation, and regardless of the autonomy setting. In fact it's always been something I kinda liked, because then I could turn autonomy off without my sim feeling like a puppet during conversations. So if it is unintended behavior, then it's something I've been experiencing for a long time. Plus hey to be fair this game has been broken for so long I'm not even sure what is or isn't a bug anymore, so you may just be right.Either way, I've always wished that they would give us a true autonomy off option because then things like this could be avoided. I mean hey Sims 3 had 3 different autonomy options, why can't this game? For Sims 3 there was an option for fully on, an option for fully off, and a middle option which basically functioned like the "off" setting in Sims 4. I'm always seeing a bunch of autonomy related problems in the bug section, and being able to properly turn it off could be useful for some of those.

@crinrict If I give no orders they stand still doing nothing until their needs run out. The end interaction was some npc interrupting/joining (they were outside in windenburg) the conversation. Also, if I have them do an action like basic everyday stuff they'll do the first task but then run off and do whatever they want for the next qued thing. It makes it very hard to play as I can't keep up.

@crinrict Yes, to clarify the exact problem I'm having is with queuing up Sims actions or topics in a conversation. If I don't pick the next action or topic fast enough the game will take over and do it for me as well as that conversations will continue until I cancel them as the game will just keep picking the next topic. I would assume it would stop if their needs get low enough but I haven't tested this. I don't mind this happening slightly as it's normal to a degree in full autonomy but it shouldn't be this fast or happening in autonomy off and I've never experienced it this bad. I've actually had this problem before and I know it is a bug because I've been able to fix it by doing origin repairs or a folder refresh but neither worked this time.

@valohim666 I get this doesn't seem like a bug, but previously autonomy off was a true off for me for conversations at least. Basically the Sims would just sit there in the conversation until I told them what to say next instead of what you see in the video. I do understand that it needs impact it. But the Sims in the game didn't have low social. I also don't mind needs impacting it in fact I like that. I just would like it to go back to the mostly true autonomy off.

@snowbelle789 Does it work if you don't give any orders at all ? Like totally ignore them ? What is that interaction to the end other than chatting with the Sim that's being queued ?

@snowbelle789 So they only do what you are telling them to do but not in the order you told them to and conversations keep going on until you cancel them but otherwise they just take care of their needs (that part is not a bug afaik as taking care of needs overrides the autonomy).

@snowbelle789 Thanks for clarifying. I need to test this in my own game. Never play with autonomy off.

I really don't know how it's supposed to be with conversations. I've adjusted the title a but as it's doesn't sound like a general issue with autonomy

@daikoyu I agree with you, this doesn't sound like a bug. The autonomy setting doesn't really seem to impact conversations very much, if at all, because regardless of the autonomy setting sims will pick their own interactions as long as a conversation has already been started. Then even if you aren't already in a conversation, with autonomy off sims will still initiate conversations when their social need gets low.
Plus yeah like you said there is no true off for autonomy, because even when set to off sims will still do things to raise their needs once they drop really low. So really it's not that the autonomy toggle isn't working, it's just a misleading option since autonomy is never truly disabled.
