Text boxes don't recognise keyboard input

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1.) Boot the game 2.) Attempt to use an in-game text box (such as Trendi outfit listing price, new born baby name, etc)
What happens when the bug occurs? The text box remains blank despite the player actively typing.
What do you expect to see? Text being entered into the selected text box.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

The game occasionally fails to recognise when I'm attempting to type into a text box with my keyboard.

The issue has occurred twice over the past 6 months in 2 seperate save files in different circumstances. In the first instance, it was when attempting to name a new born baby. In the second, I was attempting to list a Trendi outfit for sale, and could not input the price.

I have installed new expansion packs between the 2 instances of the bug.

It can only be resolved by exiting the game entirely and booting it again.
