Transparent Pool Walls

Hey Simmers,

I am having issues at my Sim's house where the pools have become transparent in live mode but comes up normal in build mode (refer to the photos).

I've tried a new save to see if it still happens, as well as an old save but they are all popping up with the same issues!

I've also tried repairing and updating the game but nothing had changed, even the several updates that the Sims 4 has had has done nothing to fix the issues.

I'm pretty this is a glitch - any ideas on how to fix it or if anyone else is having the same issues?

POOL IN BUILD MODE

POOL IN LIVE MODE

Ok, I downloaded the lot and took a look.  First off, that's a really nice build, impressive even.  Great job!!!  It's a keeper that'll go into my main save if you don't mind.  🙂

I got the same thing you did in build and live.  Looks solid in build and transparent in live mode.  It took me a while and a bit of experimenting to figure out what you'd done to get that effect to happen, but I think I did.  What is going on is the game is displaying the inside wall of a foundation.  It's like that in every build with a raised foundation, you just can't see it normally because you would normally have a house sitting on top of it.  There's not much you can do about it.  It's just the way build works.

So, basically, you would have to rebuild that area a different way to keep it from happening which would be both laborious and time consuming.  But I did find a reasonably good-looking work around.  Just place a fence along the pool edge.  Since it's raised, sims can't enter or exit the pool along the wall anyway.  So, a fence won't block anything.  And it would only take you a minute or so, if that, to make the change.  See my pic below for the fence I used.  The pic is taken in live mode.  I moved the hot tub out of the way so you can see the difference where the fence is and where it isn't.

Tbh, I kinda like the effect of the see through pool side.  Although I did notice that it is absolutely clear, and you don't get the water effect like you do when looking down on the water.

    Hope this helps.

I'm not sure what's going on there.  But, if you would like me or another helper to take a look at it, you can upload the lot to the Gallery and reply here after you've done so with the lot name and your user ID if different than the one you use here (ElixiiiRR).  I or another helper will download it and take a look to see if we can find the cause or a work around for the issue.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for the help! The lot has now been uploaded to my gallery with the lot name as 'Chateau Peak' and the user ID as 'ElixiiiRRR'.

I've also just had a look at the pools in my gallery and they are all coming up with the same issue where the walls have become transparent. Hope that you are able to find a fix! 🙂

Thank you!!! I'm not the original owner of the build itself but I modified the interior a huge ton and made it my own. Definitely feel free to save it if you like it 🙂 🙂

Thank you for also taking the time to experiment on the build. Sucks that it ended up being like that though as I never used to have a problem with it!! I just thought that it might've been a glitch in my game.
Is there a reason why the pools in the gallery are also coming up with transparent walls? And would this be an issue for me in the future if I would like to raise my pools up like I did with this build??

I have done your suggestion and built a fence instead, and it is looking better than it did before. Thank you again x1000 for helping me find a workaround for this.

    I'm glad I could help.

As for the pools in the gallery.  The only thing I can give you is a guess that something in build had changed that causes it now.  When I was experimenting, I found that if the pool was connected to a house with a raised foundation, that the walls would go transparent.  But I also tried placing a pool all by itself and lowering the terrain around it.  That keep the foundation around the pool from turning transparent.  My guess is that the game sees the pool when you do that as a separate building and what you see is the outside of the foundation.  But tbh, that's just a guess and the best explanation I can give you.

    Hope this helps.
