Why are my Sims' base body templates changing?

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? I own all expansions, game packs, stuff packs and kits.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I haven't heard about anyone else having this issue yet, so I've no clue. But a touch of bad luck might help it find YOU.
What happens when the bug occurs? It messes with my chill. I already have enough bugs in my game that take away from the experience.
What do you expect to see? I want my sims' skeletal structure to remain the same. I don't care whether they gain or lose weight/muscle, but the foundations of their body shouldn't be subject to change.

Honestly, I don't know much about what is happening because this bug only started affecting my game today. But my sims' body types are changing during gameplay, seemingly at random. And I'm not referring at all to the sliders - this isn't an issue with sims becoming fat or skinny. The actual body templates are the issue.

I made a young adult, male sim in CAS for the purpose of marrying him into my legacy family. I used the ultra-buff body template and adjusted his body from there. After playing him for an hour, I noticed his body looked off, so I took him back into CAS to see what was wrong, and the pear-shaped body was selected as the base. Even his feet, which I'd initially maxed, were small again.

I considered that it could have been my error, so I fixed him and continued playing my game. Then about an hour after that, I realized that his wife (my legacy descendant, who was normally very slender), had a HUGE belly. She was big to the point where I thought she'd gotten pregnant somehow. I took her into CAS and her body template was changed as well.

At this point I'm upset because half the fun of playing a legacy game is to pass down genetics.

When they heired a son, I took him into full CAS, so I could make sure his adult-self would inherit their genetics. It looked good, so I continued playing. Then halfway through his teen years, his body template ALSO changed. He was not buff or slender like he was supposed to be. No. He inherited the glitchy pear-shape.

I was pissed ... but because I was already on generation 9 of my game, I thought I'd give it one more shot. I uninstalled MC Command Center (my only mod), deleted my cache, repaired the game, and tried again.

I made a very curvy woman to marry into my legacy this time. Hips, thighs and breasts for days. She was in her third trimester when I noticed that her legs were like twigs, and she had no butt or bust. Looked in CAS, and sure enough, her body type was changed to the petite base. There was no meat on her at all. And because you can't fiddle with pregnant sims' details, I couldn't adjust her body to the way it was before.

I just closed it out after that. Legacy challenges aren't fun for me when 'fake' genetics are being passed down. Yeah, this blows.

Please help. I tried my game again today and it's still happening.
I made a new save file to see if it would interrupt gameplay, and it did.
I made a couple to try things out with, and while the male's shape didn't change this time, the female's shape changed several times. I only noticed it after she had given birth. I dunno, perhaps it's a factor.

Tbh, I'm not sure exactly what you have going on. All I can tell you is that I haven't seen it happening in my game. I also use mods btw. So I'm inclined to think it is being caused by one of your mods. So I would begin by looking for something like a CC slider, default replacement or other mod like MCCC that affects the body shape just to make sure everything is up to date. It might be worth it for you to start a testing save and test out your mods there rather than in your main save.
Since this is recent, it may be that you downloaded something new recently that is the culprit so I would look at those first. Another thing you could try too is to delete the localthumbcache file if you added or removed mods and cc recently.

I don't have any custom content except for MCCC and I tried running the game without it and had the same issue (I even completely deleted it to grab a fresh download afterwards). And I've deleted my cache and thumb-thingy file a million times since yesterday. Okay, twice, but still. It no helpful.
It's weird - I haven't noticed the sliders changing at all. The weight and muscle mass remains the same between the body shapes (though depending on the body, they still look drastically different). Nor have I noticed in changes to facial details. It's strictly just the body.

Ok, so mods except MCCC. I use it too and don't see the issue. But I will take another look to see what is happening with my sims.
In the mean time, the only thing I can think of for you to try is to repair the game.

Edit. I just looked at sim bodies in a vanilla save and in my modded main save. What I found leads me to think that maybe the templates do change as you play depending on how you play. They may just be a starting point when you make sims but idk for sure. Things like exercise, overeating, reward store potions, the Weight of the World and Taste of Diet ice creams, and GTW serums can all visibly change a sim's body in game and it appears that the body shape reflected in CAS matches their current appearance as closely as the game can as far as I can tell. I haven't noticed any changes while I play other than what I made sims do that changed how their body looks so I'm at a loss as to what is happening in your game unless you are doing things that would change how the sim looks like exercise, overeating, etc.

I also have been having this problem, I've noticed it on my sims as well as townies. Sometimes it's the pear shape frame, sometimes it's a slim frame, sometimes it's a frame that makes them look pregnant. I had mods originally as well, and figured they were the issue, but I'm having the problem even without them. Most recently it happened right after my Sim gave birth, she had a completely different body shape than what she had just a few days ago. I've seen this issue when my sims age up sometimes, too.

Happens to my sims every time someone in the active household ages up or has a baby and it's driving me insane! I've set some stronger limits on MCCommand center to fight it but I don't understand why it's happening... My female frame sims get a huge belly, maxed out shoulder width, and * down to their belly button while Male frame sims get tiny feet and huge hips (other body parts change too but are less noticable)

@slytheringoddes I too get this annoying bug and its driving me insane. The female sims all look pregnant and my male sims have extremely broad shoulders and tiny little waists. The females also get very saggy breasts...I'm tired of going into CAS every time they age up or post pregnancy to correct it.

So, almost a year now I've been experiencing this bug, and I still don't have a satisfactory solution.

The only fix that I've found to be moderately successful is by using MCCC and flagging sims 'freeze appearance' and 'freeze physique'. However, this doesn't ALWAYS work (especially if you wait any amount of time to do it after a sim has aged up), plus it sucks having to do it for more than a couple of sims at a time (let alone a town or world), and it prevents sims from getting fat/thin or muscular/weak (thereby leaving no consequences for diet or exercise).
